His beard gets more magnificent every time I see it
I don't like how excited he was. It was wierd, he's always been so laid back. I mean IvyBridge is good in how it builds on SB, but it's just a better IGP in this case. Even if it does have DX11, it's not powerful enough to run those DX11 effects.
I honestly, do not get why he's even slightly excited about it.

The way that memory is accessed has a significant advantage over how it's done on AMD/Nvidia side of things, giving massive growth potential.
It's more like a console when you get down to the fine details of it all, Carmack talked about it at some Quakecon, I recommend finding that video, I'm fairly sure it was last year's keynote.
It's also a solid foundation for system performance. As games developers, they can now say "We can be sure that anyone with an Ivy Bridge processor has at least this graphics capability" and make that their minimum system requirements - but a minimum they can reliably test and make sure is a decent experience.

Which is actually pretty damn good from the perspective that we can have a somewhat broad standard to build towards and then excell over. We're already limited by consoles on that point. Ivy Bridge can only be a step up as the lowest denominator.

He's being paid to advertise it.
Ivy Bridge: Gabe Newell Approved
The beard makes you or breaks you...
The beard broke his psyche, but improved him.
Nevertheless, it DID break him though. :(

There's more improvements over Sandy Bridge than just Integrated Graphics performance, although that was a huge leap. You've gotta consider as well that they can't design games for the most amazing computer you can build out of consumer parts - so if people with computers that are basically just an ivy bridge with no graphics card can play more of their games, that's a plus for them. I remember seeing the Razer Fiona (which is a tablet with no graphics card, just an ivy bridge + i7) playing skyrim pretty decently and that's pretty awesome.

He really needs the money, owning such an extremely profitable business and all, not saying that he isn't getting paid. Though I highly doubt he cares about the money, chances are he actually is just interested in the Ivy Bridge and decided to speak on it, didn't hurt to get paid at the same time.
I feel like if I stood right in front of Gabe in public I wouldn't recognize him. He blends in like some sort of chameleon.
Who is he to refuse, when the money literally throws itself at him. I mean, Pussy is Puss- Money right?

That was my point, he seems to care about the product and he's getting paid aswell, it can't hurt to get both things. I said I doubt he's pretending to care for the sake of the money.
