I've been out of the loop on MDE and Sam Hyde for a really long time. But is Hyde and MDE really that bad as this guy is making out?
I've been out of the loop on MDE and Sam Hyde for a really long time. But is Hyde and MDE really that bad as this guy is making out?
No. The fucking gall he had to outright call WP a "Neo-Nazi show" in this is astounding. How? What made it different from all the other fucking shows Adult Swim presented? Eric Andre? Family Guy? Tim & Eric? Good clean, non offensive fun, right? Fuck off. It was only ever a problem for this dude when someone with differing political opinions was getting a shot on the network. I'm not saying some (or a lot) of Sam's views aren't completely insane, but it's so fucking childish that Gelman and Tim Heidecker can't just outright admit the reason why they didn't want the show on the network is because they didn't like his political views.
not to mention most of Sam Hyde's actual humour, despite promoting his views is shown in an infowars parody way where he relentlessly mocks both the left and the psycho right so it's not like he was just complaining about muh liberals and ebil jews [editline]18th October 2017[/editline] also while I despise the man's personal opinions you can't tell me WP wasn't fucking hilarious [editline]18th October 2017[/editline] meanwhile Roman Polanski and Woody Allen are both just making movies and working on stuff fine, not to draw direct parallels between theses two very different fields of Adult Swim and of the overall Hollywood problem but it's just interesting someone can get blacklisted for being kind of an alt-right cunt irl but not when you rape or molest children
"I'm going to let my political views get in the way of someone else's ideas of humor and sketch comedy." That's what Brett Gelman sounds like. Fuck off, man. Every single point he makes about the creators or fans being alt-right or neo Nazi are contrived by his warped views of the world, and could be discredited if he took a few minutes to watch Sam's content, or if he had a modicum of common sense. Can't wait until he goes on a tirade about how Hogan's Heroes should be stricken from the halls of media fame because it glorifies Nazism. Jesus. Take a step back and get your heads out of your asses Adult Swim.
Twitter gives voice to too many people
Really now?
Really now?
Also
... Not everybody deserves a microphone.
:w-hat:
"literally a neo-nazi sketch show" my black transgender girlfriend is featured in more than half the episodes and got paid for her content in it, but ok sam is totally a scumbag for his beliefs, but WP is more than just sam's opinions
I think Sam Hyde is in a constant state of parody. I don't think he has actual beliefs at all, and I certainly don't think he has ever expressed authentic opinions. If he has, then they're usually exaggerated, amplified, or distorted for comedic effect.
What are Sam Hyde's actual beliefs?
I'm honestly surprised that so much of Gelman's and Heidecker's attacks have been directed at Sam Hyde instead of Charls Carroll Yeah, Hyde's sort of the ringleader, but he's never once come off as serious whereas I could see Carroll actually being somewhat far right [editline]18th October 2017[/editline] based just off MDE sketches, fuck if I know his actual beliefs
What are Sam Hyde's actual beliefs?
"gas the kikes race war now" - Sam "One Man Auschwitz" Hyde
idk if any of you browse sam hydes twitter but it's pretty fucking bad calling world peace a neo nazi show is dumb, i actually enjoy the show a lot, but sam is so far right i can see why a company would want to drop him
my black transgender girlfriend is featured in more than half the episodes and got paid for her content in it, but ok
dude, badass
i used to laugh at mde and and especially sam when he/they relentlessly parodied people's lack of self awareness online and in real life. he's so deliberately ugly and so completely un-self-conscious that its a really refreshing antitode/anti-hero format. that part is and always will be funny. but i think the reason people feel this liminal parodic confusion when it comes to sam is that sometimes his shit just isn't funny and when it's not it turns into literal fucking toxic waste, the shittiest kind of comedy there is. he crosses lines in the sand wearing that parodic personality, and you're never sure when it happens, and i feel like people give him a free pass for irony he didn't use.
Isn't Brett Gelman that giant pussy that chastised Eric Andre during a comedy podcast for interrupting his boring story with a joke?
World Peace was like a gift from Heaven to AS. There couldn't have been better timing to drop a show featuring debatablely misogynistic content than when the channel itself was mired in controversy for their VP joking about not letting women into the writing room.

Except if you pay close attention to Sam Hyde's delivery it's actually really funny and obviously trolling. People who really believe radical racist shit will give a creepy vibe, Sam doesn't (to me). He laugh's at his own "rhetoric" all the time.
he says a lot of shit without irony and either has never broken character ever or is just a shitty dude sorry man but i cant really vouch for the dude who was calling gay people abominations and degenerates at some college speech without a hint of irony in his voice or act
Haven't seen that one. Mind linking it? is there a video?
Haven't seen that one. Mind linking it? is there a video?
pretty sure this is the video hes talking about a classic
pretty sure this is the video hes talking about a classic
...where's the comedy? He's just spouting anti-LGBT propaganda. There's no irony, no jokes, no real script, no anything but a childish attempt to disgust the audience. There's only so much you can justify with "it's ironic you don't get it" before it rings hollow. The main issue with Sam's brand of humour is that it veers way too often into legitimate right-wing hate speech disguised as irony.
yeah like, even under the veil of irony, if you have no control or way to show your audience that you or the character you're playing are full of shit, people will put that on a platter as an example of who to be. take for example the awful people who get really into rick and morty because their shitty attitudes are justified cause a cartoon grandpa does it and he makes the funnies in the show. the only reason a show like rick and morty get away with it is that they've been trying to turn it on him for the past few seasons and even the oblivious viewers are starting to catch on that rick's an awful person. even still, there's always gonna be those folk who idolize his awful characteristics because they themselves are like him in some way, so therefore you get a lotta "to be fair, you have to have a large iq yadda yadda." so it's not hard to imagine that if a simple character like rick, enables people to be shitty even after being put on blast by creators and fans alike, imagine the awful people a show with no irony or satire could enable. it's not so much about being friendly or making a show that appeals to everyone or whatever garbage, that would be dumb as hell. it's about making sure that your show isn't accidentally making a bad impact on the world. you've gotta make it VERY clear what your message is, or else you become the satire. that's something for all shows trying to put a certain characteristic on blast, if they don't make it clear that what they're doing is calling out the character and their shitty actions, they live long enough to become the bad guy. it's like calling alex jones satire. even if it turns out he was and it was all a big fuckin joke this whole time, and even if alex jones was a nice person and shit, his garbage persona has still become an enabler for horrible people to come out of the woodwork, justify their horrible beliefs because they aren't in on the joke, and then when people come back at them, they just react violently and say that everything in the world is getting babified or something akin to that.
"I'm going to let my political views get in the way of someone else's ideas of humor and sketch comedy."
this is literally sams problem with WP too though. I guarantee that if Sam Hyde didn't constantly do dumb shit outside of the show like personally call up and abuse Tim Heidecker, personally abuse people on twitter and literally donate large chunks of money to stormfront and neo nazi groups the show wouldn't have been cancelled. You can say "haha but its all an act" as much as you want, but he goes out of his way to support and help these political groups that are clearly racist with monetary support
"literally a neo-nazi sketch show" my black transgender girlfriend is featured in more than half the episodes and got paid for her content in it, but ok sam is totally a scumbag for his beliefs, but WP is more than just sam's opinions
which skits? [editline]19th October 2017[/editline] also world peace approached comedy differently and that's why I loved it.
