God that is so boring looking
Aw this is the car I have lol. It's a 2014. [editline]28th December 2017[/editline] But I bought it used and I only owe like $7k left on it so it's better than nothing!

I could just tell from the shirt in the thumbnail that it was Dougy boi
We need a Doug DeMuro thread. I love watching his videos while I eat dinner :v:
That's a weird way to spell Renault.
That's a weird way to spell Renault.
My 10 year old Clio is honestly on par with this cars tech/styling, I couldn't imagine paying $10k+ for this.
Is there a version where he talks in real units?
Fuck, I hate Doug Demuro. His videos are always on something that interests but every time I open one of his videos, I close it after 1 or 2 minutes because his presentation sucks so much. I want to open this video up and find out why the Mirage is a huge piece of shit aside from Mitsubishi not trying anymore but I know I'm going to regret it 2 minutes in when I can't take his shitty jokes anymore

Pretty lame

It's an economy car made in Thailand for developing markets (SEA mostly), and it's less than 10k. You get power windows, power mirrors and automatic AC. And a four star crash rating. And a decent warranty. Doesn't sound that bad tbh if you factor in the price. Also didn't know backup cameras will be mandatory soon in the US, thats pretty cool
Doug's humor is kind of dad tier and his high-pitched voice doesn't go with the crap mic quality, but he has content no one else has. It's like how Ashens would look at a car. It's such a nice breakaway from the loud, flashy, hyper-edited reviews you find on TV. Plus, he doesn't put me to sleep like Jay Leno's Garage

"smug", but I can't really place why that is. It's kind of the same problem I have with watching Smarter Every Day. The content is great, the videos are well edited, but something about that guy's saccharine behaviour really rubs me the wrong way. By comparison, Tom Scott? No Problem. Slomo guys? No problem.

I think part of the problem is that he does these videos pretty much by himself as far as I can tell. So pretty much everything has to be a static shot unless he holds the camera. Which is fine, but his damn mic is so bizarre in whether or not it want to be decent. Although I do love his editing quirk where he cuts himself off when the "send me your car" title card pops up. He has to be doing it on purpose. No fucking way can he do it this consistently. :v: But I do love that he focuses on my favorite aspect of cars. Being the history or performance is nice but I like seeing what it's like to actually be in the car and use it. That is what makes me forgive all the other aspects of it. He also wears the same shoes as me. So that's mildly amusing.
why not buy an older, nicer, used car for that money?
I'm not really in a position to be changing out cars. The one I have suits me fine and I like the space in the back. I'm not super picky atm. When I've settled out on my own I'll probably trade up. [editline]28th December 2017[/editline]
how do you owe 7k on a car thats worth 3k on the used market
Poor interest rate. I got it when I didn't have much income to begin with. I'm honestly just trying to pay it off at this point.
nah I meant back when you were looking for a car to begin with. like you can get something decent for 3-4k
It was my first time buying a car and I had to do a lot of traveling for my job at the time. I wanted something a little bit newer so I wouldn't have to worry about it having too much wear and tear on it already. And I don't really know too much about cars to begin with lol. It was one of the better deals I had locally.
why not buy an older, nicer, used car for that money?
No joke a side from the aux jack and rear power windows, this car looks about on par or worse than my dad's 1999 Yaris. However it's got a whopping 200cc and 13hp edge over the Yaris so it's faster.
Also I just realized he mentioned that it's the only new car that doesn't have a steering lock. Surprisingly, not true. Ford Fusions do not have steering locks. I'm not sure if other modern Ford's don't but I can turn my 2014s wheel all the way without a key. There is no mention of it having one in the service docs either.
Watch Regular Car Reviews
at least doug talks about cars instead of wiping his ass with a wire brush. rcr is "comedy" with a smattering of cars, doug is cars with a smattering of "comedy"
You owe someone 7000 dollars for that?! Damn. Just... Damn.
I owe a lot of money to a lot of people. It's great.
at least doug talks about cars instead of wiping his ass with a wire brush. rcr is "comedy" with a smattering of cars, doug is cars with a smattering of "comedy"
I just find Doug's reviews to be a bit boring due to how formulaic they are. He's pretty fun and all, but he does the exact same thing in every review and, well, it just gets a bit repetitive. It would help if he didn't advertise the same services all the damn time to be honest. [editline]29th December 2017[/editline]
I owe a lot of money to a lot of people. Honestly, I'm only gentle with myself because it was my first car purchase and I had a limited amount of knowledge. Plus my dad had offered to help me a little bit and I needed a car to get to work and school since everyone else in my house used theirs to work. We have four cars and none of them go unused, even my dad's '99 Mazda Protege. If I can find a way to absolve myself of the debt and maybe get something better, I will, but like I said, I know so little about cars that I'm not even sure where to begin. I wouldn't want something older for the sake of maintenance costs and the fact that I do enjoy power windows and my aux plugin. The smaller size is also a plus since my depth perception is not great when it comes to parking lol. But anyway. If I discovered I had options to ease my debt, I'd probably look into them.

Of course when it comes to safety they're deathtraps in comparison but if you don't care about that shit and just need a cheap car they're perfect for it. Just stay away from older BMWs/Mercs (though the older ones are more reliable, I can't imagine parts are cheap), italian shit, and french shit.
