[sp]I dropped Syndicate because of an insanely shite side mission, so oh boy i can't wait to see this trainwreck myself[/sp]
I mean from what i've heard it's one of the best games in the franchise.
Those youtube guys don't even know what their talking about. Dunkey is Puerto Rican
Dunkey is white?!
I mean from what i've heard it's one of the best games in the franchise.
I've had a great time with it so far. Can't take it super seriously though. I think this review gets it because I mean it seems like he's having a lot of fun with it but also addressing the fact that parts of it are silly. And it does get silly. Like how at the end he's messing with the movement animations, that's my favorite shit to do too, and it's not just the horse, if you do it just right on foot you can slide along sideways without moving your feet. It's hilarious, my favorite thing in a video game recently. He just stares off in the wrong direction with this serious ass face and slides on through the town square. If you crouch and do it he starts hammer dancing. Good times.
Dunkey doesn't do the game any justice. He did some side missions and explored maybe two of the major areas. The map is enormous, gorgeous and filled with really interesting content. It's the first AC I've enjoyed since the second one. It just runs a bit shit on PC because of DRM
Dunkey doesn't do the game any justice.
That's one of his main selling points

Which is fine I guess, dunkey's vids aren't really about being fair. It's a mix of gushing about games he likes and laughing at games he dislikes. What rubbed me the wrong way about the video was that it didn't so much seem to be about the game as it was about pissing off annoying commenters. The game itself didn't matter, it was just an opportunity. Stuff like erratic movements leading to erratic animations seems like pretty low-hanging fruit to me and makes me question how representative any of the stuff in the video was.

Only the easier beginner quests involve dumb or useless stuff like carrying or following someone. Typical quests once you get the story up and running almost always involve killing dudes. I've enjoyed the quests and exploration because just doing side quests often times gives you even more reason to explore and the whole gameplay loop of that is fun. The story is the most believable so far because the main character has direct motivation to help random people doing side quests because helping people is the character's job. Often times that involves killing dudes who are not helpful, which is understandable, and thus the main quest is thankfully boiled down to a simple hit list, which is what it should be in a game about an assassin. And the hit list being made up of a group of people chasing ancient aliens only adds to the opportunity to make cool setpieces and flesh out a storyline that scales across time and is entertaining. I mean everything about the game is spot on so far except for the silly things you can do to exploit the game mechanics or AI. Or when the horse runs in the wrong direction when using the follow road command. Yeah I just wanted to go 2km out of the way to get to this thing 300m away, thanks horse that was a great move. But then at the same time, while shit like that might happen sometimes, 90% of the time it works perfectly and you can even do this cool thing where you can fly the bird and scout ahead and your character on the horse continues to move so you get to places quicker with targets already identified.
Assassin's Creed is a good franchise

It's a shame this'll probably dissuade people from trying the game. It's one of the best open world games I've ever played. Even with it's issues on PC I still had a ton of fun with it.
they should call it molasses creed
The running up stairs shit is really fucking weird. Like, there's some staircases where if I'm crouched, Bayek literally just will not walk up them or get stuck on mishapen step :v:
Dunkey is white?!
No. He is of PUERTO RICAN descent.
The damage numbers and the loot system look like they're out of place in this game. Same thing with the UI in general.
It's satire, it still looks fairly good even in his video. I'd play it if it weren't for the DRM being tied to player movement causing the game to run like absolute ass
Assassin's Creed is a good franchise
If they had not shit out like a trillion games in 10 years, I would probably agree.
I understand why these games are so popular, there aren't really any other AAA stealth action franchises, but god damn I find them so boring. Even Black Flag couldn't hold my attention for more than around 6 hours. And I like stealth games, too.
ac: rogue is what black flag should've been honestly it got released simultaneously with unity and didn't come out on next-gen/pc until a year later so barely anyone really played it, but it's basically black flag without the tailing missions and more freeform gameplay + more naval combat depth/focus
It's also half the length and has poor pacing/progression. You're stuck to one outfit and basically broke for the first two sequences, then afterwards you're rich and there's barely a need to plunder other ships. A fun game, but basically Black Flag's inferior son.
