They did a very impressive work with the proto-indo-european language.

be cool if there were neanderthals, super dumb but incredibly strong.
Not gonna lie, since Jontron's video on it, I'm starting to slowly get into Primal.
I won't pre-order (unless the pre-order swag is worth the price), but I won't lie, I interested now.
be cool if there were neanderthals, super dumb but incredibly strong.
Wouldn't make sense since I think they'd all be dead by 10,000 BC which is when this game takes place.
Also don't most researchers agree that they were the same as modern humans in terms of intelligence?
be cool if there were neanderthals, super dumb but incredibly strong.
isn't the general consensus that neanderthals weren't any less intelligent than humans?
I think Neanderthals dying out was something about penis size.
SO I'VE HEARD! :v:
My worry is although its authentically accurate and they're really trying to recreate the era, it still feels like there's not going to be much to it.

Don't forget towers.
Please no more towers :v:.
Seems like this might be worth giving a shot.
Also, anyone else hearing Adam Jensen in this video?
isn't the general consensus that neanderthals weren't any less intelligent than humans?
They probably had the same potential but being born without society or large cultural groups they were inherently dumber in the long run.

I KNOW, I heard that too.

You'll have to climb mountains and kill the old man doing smoke signals.
Also, anyone else hearing Adam Jensen in this video?
Well Elias Toufexis (voice of Adam Jensen) also voices the main character in Primal, so yeah you're totally hearing Adam Jensen.

Me never ask for this.

They went back in time with the setting AND the gameplay!
I'm not sure how they can keep this game interesting without guns or vehicles. That's like the bread and butter of the Far Cry games.
It's like they realized, "hey, players are so into luring wild animals to capture outposts, maybe we should make that a core aspect of the game?"
They started with bait in FC4, which I'll say was a decent decision.
Now, they've doubled-down with a game where you're the Beastmaster, and it's practically the sole mechanic, save for bows and melee weapons.
But guys... I've already PLAYED the Shangri La sections of Far Cry 4... I really was just happy to have those parts over with, I didn't want to play the entire GAME that way.
I mean, I get what they're doing. They figure, the bows are such a popular stealth weapon, and generally people prefer the takedown skills over run and gun, that they can take it to this alternate setting and preserve the soul of the thing.
End of the day though? I really preferred being able to switch to the Ripper and panic-spray shit till it stopped moving when things got hot or I got ambushed...
Keep in mind that that's a preference you made in the context of a game with ranged hitscan enemies.
yknow i've gotta say while there have certainly been drawbacks from most of the far cry games that i've played, on the whole it's been a pretty good series. mainly in the sense that they're fucking experimental with it, which is cool. they look for what people might enjoy and they adapt it, and they take risky decisions. in a world where everything gets really stagnant as dozens and dozens of studios (whether they be movie or television or video game) constantly seek to cash in on the next big setting or next big thing, Far Cry as a series has really always gone for a sort of unique spin to whatever the current trends are.
Like with FC2, the big thing at the time was the gritty modern shooter. so they went with the gritty aesthetic but placed it into a really interesting sort of world (from an atmospheric standpoint at least, there were TONS of really big drawbacks to far cry 2). I gotta say while Far Cry 2 is a big let down and totally loses steam, it was really quite an interesting game. It was definitely unique in its time.
Same with Far Cry 3. FC3 took the pulpy vibrant vibes from the first and brought them right back in, with an exotic locale, a really fantastically written villain, interesting (if somewhat...rushed?) character development of the protagonist, huge psychedelic elements blended directly into the gameplay, really interesting stuff.
Then Blood Dragon did a sort of cash in on the current trend of retro-styled shit but did it in a completely different way than most, by being more of a parody of 80's film and music than being a "callback" in the style of many of the pixel-retro games as of late. I think it stands out simply in its comedic delivery, which while not the greatest thing ever was definitely refreshing in a sea of either grimdark military shooters or medieval fantasy or the only other really funny genre of adventure games, which always have a more wordplay sort of vibe to them. I think it was an interesting merge of various genres and ideas.
I haven't played FC4 so I can't comment on it, but the environment looks neat.
And then there's primal. It's probably building off elements of games like Rust and other sort of more survival games, but it's doing a pretty unique and interesting spin to it. primal looks interesting both from a worldbuilding standpoint as well as a gameplay standpoint.
I'm still hoping for another blood dragon that shit was so fun.

Also making ridiculous levels in Far Cry 1 and playing them with friends was some of the funnest shit
I love the Far Cry games, but I can't get into Primal because of its history. Concept was pitched by Michel Ancel as a new IP, and he didn't get to work on it. I feel bad for the guy.
Fast forward: Ancel is at a new studio making his dream project about a prehistoric beast master but is going to get beat to the punch by Ubi making a game off of his concept pitch.
Well Elias Toufexis (voice of Adam Jensen) also voices the main character in Primal, so yeah you're totally hearing Adam Jensen.
Also I just realized another thing.
I know that there's going to be sex in Primal.
So we get to hear Cave Jensen having hot dirty caveman sex!

This is how I feel, honestly I'm excited about the lore and how scientific they're getting, but from what I've seen this isn't really a Far Cry game. To me it looks awesome as its own game, but it really doesn't seem anything like a Far Cry game at all without the modern element. As big as Ubisoft is, I seriously think they could have made a new IP out of this and gotten away with it, It's definitely a great idea with some big bucks behind it.
Or since Tom Clancy is dead, they're turning Far Cry into another umbrella style brand.
Far Cry 2 deviated a shitton from Crytek's Far Cry. The can of worms opened long ago.

Almost as the sequels are a far cry from each other.
