I know this is years old, but I feel in light of 9/11 if anyone has not seen it yet they should. It is truly a depressing story, you just gotta ignore the retarded youtube comments.

People were jumping out of windows... To "save" themselves? What?
Die in a fire or jumping from the windows, did you even watch it?
People were jumping out of windows... To "save" themselves? What?
It would be comparatively painless to jump, dying in a fire would be 10,000x worse
Wouldn't they fall unconscious before they hit the ground? If so, that would be better than dying in a fire.

i'd imagine having your body basically explode once it hits the ground is enough to kill you instantly
Don't know what's with the disagree, at that height you do pretty much just explode.
The first fire department fatality that day was caused by a jumper from the North World Trade Centre. :(
I was with my dad when it happened, He was taking me to a dentist and he had to stop by his office, he was probably 4 or 5 blocks away. We saw the 2nd plane hit, and we didn't know what to do. I remember seeing people jumping and I remember seeing them disintegrate when they hit, it was just a red misty shower. I remember as we were leaving just after the first tower collapsed I saw red chunks on the ground. I'm sure you can all imagine what they were.
I don't want to go into details about some of the more gruesome things I saw, but I felt that i should share because I was so close when it happened.
Another amazing 9/11 documentary, really made how the situation affected New Yorkers sink in for me (I was 6 at the time, so I lacked a sense of understanding)

I watched it live, for some reason I was at my grandpa's that morning instead of school, and I had no memory of the jumpers. It wasn't until maybe 5 or 6 years ago I found out people jumped (through watching footage of somebody fall from top to bottom) and I just broke down unexpectedly, it was wild.

I don't understand this idea - if that were the case skydiving & especially base jumping wouldn't exist

The shock of knowing that you are going to die may have something to do with it.
I completely forgot that 9/11 was tomorrow.
Goddammit, now I'm depressed.
Try not to masturbate.

Not sure how to black text but for those who are easily upset, don't read below this please.
The first person I saw jump was the most memorable, He was wearing a blue shirt with black pants and a red and blue tie, he was wearing a jacket but it came off as he was falling. The worst thing about seeing someone fall is their flailing, they are waving and kicking in all directions like they are trying to grab onto something or someone. This particular man fell for about 10 seconds, however at the time it just dragged on forever. I remember seeing him hit too, it was dusty on the ground, and there were debris everywhere, but this man landed a block away right in the middle of the road, I remember seeing a splash of red, like a water balloon hitting something, there was a car next to him and I can still see how it got all over the windshield. The worst part about someone hitting is that there is nothing left, sure there is blood but at the center of it there is this yellow mass, which years later I learned is a mix of body fat and body oils mixed together. parts of people go flying not as legs and arms but as "pieces" or "chunks". As far as I saw, people were reaching out to something the whole time they fell.

Jesus, that isn't something you could easily forget. If I saw someone die, I'm not sure how I'd get over it, you're obviously a much stronger/better person than I am.
There's images of the "remains" of the jumpers.... you pretty much vaporise on impact. Even their clothes get shredded, all that's left is fat residue and occasional feet or fingers. Pretty mental.

Ninjad.
There's quiet a few pictures of the jumpers landing, but only 2 video's of them actually hitting the ground. I also heard that a firefighter almost died when a lander nearly landed on him. he landed about 20 feet away from him.

Suffocate due to the smoke and burn alive, or jump out the window and face a instant death below.
Takes a lot of balls to jump out of a window and accept your fate.
There are about like 4 jumpers in this one but it's hard to tell because they sort of explode when they hit. The railing is bent because one of them hit the railing pretty damn hard

I have some more pictures if you want a few
Also: notice the 2 security cameras. They got all of it on tape but we are not allowed access to/they didn't publicly release any of the footage yet.
Here is a very great documentary titled "102 Minutes That Changed America," made by someone that lives in my town, it's basically lots of unreleased clips and reactions:

Yes please.
GO GO GADGET, MORBID CURIOSITY!
As requested... (some credit goes to CodeMonkey3 for giving me the pictures/details on them)
(possibly NSFW?)
In this one you can see on top of the glass overhang there are a few bodies.

when the planes hit the towers that bodies were torn apart and ejected across several blocks. The red bits you see everywhere used to be people.

Another piece of someone on the sidewalk

Approximately seventy people landed infront in the Plaza right infront of the Lobby of the North Tower. When the Jumpers land their blood mists and disperses so a single Jumper or two won't produce a pool of blood but in this circumstance it was like layering on paint over and over again until it was running down the windows and pooling on the Plaza. This is a screencap from a video, in this video you can also see a Jumper hit the stage between the two Towers where numerous Jumpers also landed.

This Jumper landed on the roof of the Marriot between the North and South Tower.
