What a sport for him to be on, but it feels like he's not wanting to be there. The show's awkwardness is just too much.

Elon's already awkward enough, the show just makes it worse.
What is purpose of laughtracks? They literally murder any form of amusement that might have been there.
i thouht it meant he was gonna talk about it, not actually be in it wow

The show would be painfully cringey without it. Not jokingly painfully cringey like it already is but I mean like causing actual physical pain.

Because this is what happens without the laugh track.

Elon Musk isn't an actor.

i've been to the warner bros studio tour, the show is filmed in front of a live audience and then they have mics scattered over the audience. this makes it more natural for the actors to time their jokes and also gives time for people watching at home to laugh. they didn't edit them in, the people watching the show thought that something was funny.
(also they raise and lower the gain of the mics in the post to avoid people laughing at times nobody else did and to keep the "good" sounding laughs over the "bad" ones.)
Is this a parody or something? Why does the audience laugh when there is nothing funny going on?

laugh tracks are the new whip cracks
"bazinga" *ten laugh tracks plays*
laugh tracks are the new whip cracks
Laugh tracks have existed long before that whip crack sound effect came in to prominence. Ever watched M*A*S*H for instance? 1972 to 1983. It ran with a laugh track, although there were a couple of episodes without laugh tracks. They typically had no laugh track in the foreign showings however. The laugh track has been around for a long time, and in this instance, as stated above, its actually the real audience you are hearing.
As much as the show is terribly written drivel that continues the stereotypes about "Nerdy" things and people, I cannot deny its ability to get people interested in these things either. Honestly, while it may portray anything "Nerdy" poorly it has at the same time made these things common in households. More people interested in videogames, comics, science. When people watch it, afterwards they want to talk about Elon Musk or Neil deGrasse Tyson, or whatever, people actually kinda care about them when they otherwise wouldn't. So for that, I can't call it all bad.

Oooh, so that's why I liked that show so much :v: It often took some pretty dark turns.
I read the title and thought it was "Elon Musk [talking] on [the subject of] the big bang theory as in the actual theory, what I got was much much worse

IIRC, all of this stuff is typically filmed in front of an audience. All of the awkward pauses is because people are laughing, they have to stop for a second. Do the same stuff with Friends and it's just as bad. I mean, the jokes can be painfully unfunny but removing the laugh track is just dumb.

Could've fooled me, each time there's laughter it sounds almost identical to the last.
I don't mind shows with laugh tracks, but when I tried giving BBT a chance it seemed over done and I found almost nothing funny.
