It's funny to see how everything is rather classy until 1992. (Granted the 70's and 80's were not the most classy, it is still loads better than everything past 92.)
Well that escalated quickly.
I speculate that the internet is a leading cause of post 92 popular song writing.
I think it is important to note that they chose some of the more shocking songs after the early 90s, there was and still is plenty of non-explicit music. We tend to look to the past with rose colored glasses, not only in music but overall. Basically they were cherry picking, in this case they picked the raunchy, sexually explicit cherries.
