seemed like he moved a bit too fast, like his movements didn't transition so much as they snapped. at times it also looked like his head was moving separately from his body, but even then it still beats the 2pac hologram by a mile. maybe they should fix that one up and have them perform together
I imagine people 50 years ago probably imagined we would be entertained by dead holographic celebrities, except they probably thought it would be in a dystopian future.

I knew he was still alive.
I knew he was still alive.
He also apparently went back in time too, because I don't remember him being that young. Or that black for that matter.
That was pretty good. I wonder what they were projecting him on. I don't think we have the tech for full free-standing holograms (Using air as the medium for projection) yet. During the opening sequence, the palace scene and MJ were wavering.

this is the future holy shit.
Yeah, it just doesn't feel that impressive that all it is, is essentially a video being shown onstage with performers. The animation and such are pretty well done but it's not terribly exciting to me.
Holographic performances give me a strange feeling. It was a nice show, but it's gonna feel "off" somehow
Yeah, it just doesn't feel that impressive that all it is, is essentially a video being shown onstage with performers. The man is dead, and yet this is almost as good as him being alive there doing it.
I enjoyed it.
Funny isn't it? Thanks to modern day science we've effectively figured out how to make pop stars nigh-immortal through time.

This dude could dance man. And as for the head moving without the body, I didn't notice it myself but it's likely they had someone act it out and then super-impose Michael onto the actor.
Seeing this makes me feel sad
oh my god, get over his death already.
everyone in the audience seemed really uncomfortable
During the pyrotechnics you can see a series of black screens of some kind.
Even still, Jackson appears in front of the screens and not on it... It's a weird perspective thing I think, but not technically a hologram. The floor of the stage seemed to hover a bit though... The whole thing is weird and I can't put my finger on it
Until we are able to actually generate holograms like we do movie cgi we won't get that real looking that we imagine it to be. Right now that was done using a regular screen and camera & perspective tricks to make it look decent.
OH GOD the end at 3:48 where the entire audience was facing away from the stage and staring at the camera gettin massive fucking body snatchers vibes there [t]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bm8VfWLAXqk/UW8M4kXgVEI/AAAAAAAAG6A/QIcYOyMC91k/s1600/invasionBS78_sutherland.jpg[/t]
Despite the imperfections people keep pointing out in the execution of the display, I must say that was pretty damn impressive.

The man is dead, and yet this is almost as good as him being alive there doing it.
I'm not saying you can't enjoy it or that it isn't technically excellent. Just knowing how it works I guess, it ruins some of the magic for me.
I knew he was still alive.
I worked a MJ impersonator show a few months ago. You wouldn't believe how many people actually thought it was him.
since youtube's removing every video of the performance because they appreciate choking on multiple donkey cocks here's a link that won't get removed: http://www.fuse.tv/2014/05/michael-jackson-hologram-bbmas
But they do the same for Vocaloid concerts...
Blocked in my country :C [editline]19th May 2014[/editline]
since youtube's removing every video of the performance because they appreciate choking on multiple donkey cocks here's a link that won't get removed: http://www.fuse.tv/2014/05/michael-jackson-hologram-bbmas
Nope, still blocked :CCC
Not a bad song either, RIP King.
It feels kinda wrong to use his image like this after his death. It is a scarey thought of a future where dead celebrities are never truly dead but assets owned by large corporations used for marketing and revenue.
But they do the same for Vocaloid concerts...
a little different when it's not only a real person, but a real person who has died. at least to me it just feels really gross
