You guys haven't got a clue what the video is about...
It's very symbolic. She's making a statement about how society looks at gay people, specifically the military. Hence the parts where she's wearing the robes with the crosses on them, and the part where she's eating the rosarie - it symbolizes religion shoving its beliefs down peoples throats, and the bigotry/discrimination it lends people. She's not trying to convince people she's not lesbian, she's openly bisexual. This is a video created FOR her gay fans. It's got a message behind it, you just have to open your mind a bit to understand.
Also she could make herself pretty if she wanted to, just watch the video for Bad Romance or Telephone, but I think she had a very strong message to say in this video and she didn't want to distract from that message by making herself look like a sex icon.
