Very interesting to think about how this show could have shaped culture in such a way.
The closest thing that prepared me to see kids dicks on South Park was Stardust Crusaders and it still felt awkward
South Park is more important than any cartoon of our generation.
I honestly believe this: South Park has been delivering a good mix of social commentary and comedy for god knows how long, and whilst shows like Bojack Horseman nail a particular topic (i.e depression), South Park scopes the entirety of society. In South Park nothing is sacred, there is nobody and nothing that Matt and Trey won't take the piss of, and that's part of the reason South Park is so great. Especially the recent seasons, there has been a lot of meaning behind the episodes beyond his points about language and vulgarity.

I still find it stupid that Americans have fuck bleeped (and sometimes shit) bc of advertisers but down here we have the word fuck being tossed about all the time (mostly after 8pm) and everyone is cool with it hell even cunt flies pretty easy on tv at an early hour, why the fuck are americans so picky
Yeah, how exactly did they get away with that, especially in a PG-13 film?
probably because it's just nudity, nothing sexual or anything. Imagine if all history had to be censored because the art has nipples

sotuh park is p.cool. it has a lot of crap in it tho. too many episodes end up being nothing more than soapboxes for the creators to preach their revelationary ideas like, maybe the answer is...somewhere in the middle! i still like the show, but i liked it better when the kids were kids and not little adults who school the adults that act like kids

Any episode with some form of social commentary, or whatever, is always just ragging on every side. The only people I know that don't get that or don't like the show are people with such strong right, left, or even center views, that they cannot loosen up to see that no side is without fault.
South Park is really just a continuation of comedies that challenge the status quote. Mel Brooks, especially with Blazing Saddles, did the same thing. You never saw a fart joke in a movie or even on television until Blazing Saddles. That movie was filled with firsts that we now see as normal parts of slapstick/raunchy humor.
