Idunno, I kinda feel like this bastardizes Ip Man as a series, because weren't 1 and 2 true stories from Ip Man's life?

Ip Man 1 and Ip Man 2 were pretty much the best representations of his story, maybe The Grandmaster too but otherwise this is just another grab at the success Ip Man has had. Yen's Ip Man is the best portrayal of Ip Man, so this movie will definitely be very good regardless of accuracy.

I expect this one to be about as accurate as the first two (aka not at all) [editline].[/editline] In the case of Ip Man 1, he never fought a Japanese general or taught Wing Chun to the entire town of Foshan, just 4 or 5 guys who worked at the cotton mill. In the case of Ip Man 2 he never fought a boxer and his first student is presented as Wong Shun Leung when it was actually Leung Sheung, who I'm 99% sure is the old bearded guy in the trailer.
The only reason this is being made is Yen wanted to do an "epic trilogy" as his exit from in front of the camera, and Lee's widow and the BLAM put up a chunk of money for it, along with Tyson. Basically this one is being "kickstarted" by everyone involved for a return on the back end, and Yen wanted a positive leading role as his last in front of the camera, and this by far has been his most popular word wide.
Mike Tyson is just laughable.
Mike Tyson is just laughable.
I dunno...I find him more fitting in a action film than a comedy ie I didn't like him in the Hangover. I see him as a ruthless boxer who plays dirty to win, or a mercenary who kills all of his targets viciously. Never saw Ip Man 1 or 2. Maybe I should start watching them.
So did they actually cast someone as Bruce or will it be actual actor mixed with CGI?
So did they actually cast someone as Bruce or will it be actual actor mixed with CGI?
rumor has it it's just gonna be cgi
Idunno, I kinda feel like this bastardizes Ip Man as a series, because weren't 1 and 2 true stories from Ip Man's life?
No. Ip Man 1 and 2 were definitely fiction. How can a starving Chinese man that hadn't practiced for years survive a fight against 10 well-fed and well-trained Japanese soldiers? The only reason why he's a legend is because Bruce Lee was a legend as well. Even with Bruce Lee, a lot of "facts" about him are obviously false. Regardless, I'm super excited for the movie.
RIP Donnie Yen's ear.
rumor has it it's just gonna be cgi
It's Danny Chan.
It's Danny Chan.
really? thought it was gonna be leslie cheung
really? thought it was gonna be leslie cheung
He killed himself a while ago though.
So did they actually cast someone as Bruce or will it be actual actor mixed with CGI?
He's in the trailer for a moment. If it was CG, then it's really good CG.
Idunno, I kinda feel like this bastardizes Ip Man as a series, because weren't 1 and 2 true stories from Ip Man's life?
IIRC, the main movies are called semi-biography.
That was an obnoxious fucking trailer WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB
