I've been doing nothing but following the Dakar race and watching anything Dakar-related... it's nothing but pure badassery. And speaking of badassery:

2:41 till 3:46... Jan de Rooy in that MONSTER of a truck taking Ari Vatanen in his Peugeot over, it gives me the chills.
Heh, I remember driving this truck around in Rigs of Rods.
It was an absolute beast.
Fucking blocked in my country.

Now THAT'S a truck worthy of driving.
(...)Sadly the second truck, the X2 hit a rough patch at speed (ca. 200km/h), got into motion and flipped several. The seatbase of the on-board mechanic came loose, he was flipped out of the truck and died. DAF Trucks instantly pulled out of Dakar, and out of rallying in general. De Rooy was 3rd overall at that moment.
All that's left now is the X1 left in the museum in Eindhoven, and the stripped wreck of the X2, left to rot in the desert.

I'd _Love_ to go there!
No, I haven't. Altough after seeing this video I'm thinking about making a 3D model of the DAF TwinTurbo II. I'd have to finish my current 3D model first before I start on that one.
I've already send an email to DAF asking if they perhaps have any concept images ect. that the public never saw. If I happen to get any I would be happy to share them with you if you want.

Jan de Rooy sure doesn't mind getting his hands dirty! :v:
One of the things I love about the DAF TurboTwin is the way each axel has it's own engine. Placed next to another like this :

Yeah, On the first video you can see him almost driving into the crowd.
