always know a working joe
I agree with everything he said. The game is great! But there little things here and there. My biggest thing with the game is the save system it is a love hate relationship.

I liked the save system, but as he said, the backtracking and frequency of save points could've been tweaked to make it a bit more enjoyable.
Huge respect for them for making an Amnesia-like horror game with a movie license and a triple A budget.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the robots. It wouldn't be so bad if you could kill them with skill rather then needing a tool and then hitting them like normal.
EMPs should permanently disable joes.

I had one literally saying "please get out of the vent system" while just staring at me inside the vent :v:
EMPs should permanently disable joes.
That's what pipe bombs are for. My big problem with the game is how the second half is just not as good. Mission 1 through 10 are all amazing, then the eight that follow just get worse and worse, with more tedious backtracking and less ingenuity in the level design. It really starts feeling like the game is dragging on after the tenth mission. But if I were to consider only the first ten missions which honestly constitute an entire game on their own then it's 10/10.
Are there any major spoilers in this review? I haven't finished the game yet but I want to see what Joe has to say about it.

While it does get a bit dull after The Trap for a while, I was never more scared when [sp]i was in the hive[/sp], and everything after that was pure terror.

Ended up having to kill one of em to get out and was able to give the other one the slip. Another time I went into a vent and one Joe saw me go in, he would go back and forth between the openings whenever I moved, he wasn't fast enough to beat me but he still tried to cut me off.
I was a bit disappointed with the ending [sp]good lord all that fucking work for nothing jesus christ how frustrating[/sp], but frankly I enjoyed the second half because [sp]waiting three years for the Alien to leave long enough to sneak from one locker to another was fucking infuriating, not scary in the least, and was my biggest problem with the game, so it was such a massive relief to not have to worry about the Xenos for a few levels[/sp]. Still, for what it is I'm so impressed. Amazing, flooring visuals- especially considering how little leeway that had with the types of environments- that are so well optimized I can run the game around 60 seconds, maxed graphics, on a $250 GPU from about four or five years ago. The sound design is also fantastic, and I believed in the characters.
They should import some kind of mod that detects sound from your house. If you're playing this with a friend, you must shut up or else the alien will hear you. It would be a fun mod to try out, like it detects your breathing and stuff. Just a fun way to make it more immersive.

I wish more people would do it, it would take virtual reality in horror games just a little further.

If you have a microphone connected, the game will pick up sounds from your room to screw you over that bit more.

Actually, the ending of the video got me thinking. Why not have an Aliens game that kinda copies from how FEAR works. Like, the game allows stealth(infact it rewards stealth greatly).
no story spoilers
Well he did make a hint to [sp]more then one alien[/sp]

Well, it's possible it could basically mix Colonial Marines and Isolation gameplay aspects together- multiple aliens roaming around, and give you weapons that could kill an alien, but leave you with extremely limited resources so it's preferable to use stealth- frankly I don't think it's necessary but I'd be glad to see this franchise given several years to cool off and refresh itself either way.
