Coming across as a 200% happy dude on Youtube is definitely silly, but it's not like every single channel does it. It's a persona they keep up for their actual content, but when serious talks must be had and they have to break it, they break it.
Take Markiplier for example. He's always really happy, bombastic, puts on this radio host voice and carries it as far as he can, but when his vlogs pop up you can see the human underneath.
The channels that are guilty of this are fucked though. It's really unrealistic and while it's not like every single teen in their audience is so malleable that they will get affected by it, the ones that do will suffer a lot for it when dealing with their own emotional troubles later on in life.
is it me or is he trying to do filthy frank's coarse voice?
either way, i more or less agree with the point he's making. the second half of the video seems a little generalised though, and seems re-hashed (you aren't alone, you don't have to be happy) yet relevant

this too - it's not like youtubers HAVE to be happy to get views, but i'm not sure that opening a video with "yeah i've had a really bad day today so i'm a bit sad but hey try and enjoy the video!" would rake in the views
it's sort of like tomska - his videos used to be pure humour, but then he kept weaving in all this stuff about depression etc - it's important and he got a good message out, but I did feel the vibe of his content changed - as harsh as that may sound, it was just like being able to detect it all the time. it's a hard one to manage. i think filthy frank handled it pretty well, giving out the message that he was ill through a medium that wasn't his main youtube channel - so people who gave a shit sought out the info and wished him well, and people who would've been put off by 'youtuber feels sad' wouldn't have a high chance of even being aware that he was ill
he's talking about channels that are literally on the network that he owns
cough jacksepticeye cough
Wow, that may be one of the best videos he's made. I like the way he explains his view. "I feel great about feeling not great."

He's been doing the filthy frank everything for a while now.
He's been doing the filthy frank everything for a while now.
pls elaborate
i kinda got the vibe that he was trying to appear as 'cool and controlled' as filthy frank does too
but better
unless he can produce content as legendary as human cake, pimp my wheelchair, rat snake fights with nick cannon and pink season then no
I never realised how much I relate to Felix now. Everything said here is what my values are all about, I love his honesty.

Forced positivity is shitty but i feel like there's another trend of being overly negative/cynical in the whole cool guy internet boyz side of youtube which is equally bad if not worse since it carries over to all the 14-year olds who watch it and then think being an Edgy Asshole who Hates Everything is extremely good and cool
or all the people who make their whole schtick being a whiny dick and then hide behind it being a "character" even though it obviously isn't

Leafy comes to mind.
I've personally never seen the comparison between Pewdiepie and Filthy Frank, and I've heard it mentioned here more than once plenty of times. I think people are just so used to Pewdiepie's own bombastic and fake 200% happy voice that when we actually uses his 'normal' talking voice it sounds like an imitation of something familiar. If anything I think he's trying to emulate H3H3, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I personally much prefer these style of videos over his 'Happy Wheels #5464' videos.
yeah even if his recent videos are FF inspired that's still like 500% more entertaining to me than the let's plays he made in the past.
it's still crazy that this is the same guy that was hated here and was known for screaming into a microphone and going crazy while playing video games cause he's actually really cool person
His voice might just be the result of screaming on camera every day for several years. I don't think he's purposely trying to sound like Filthy Frank.
Everything is a balance and the coming of age process (post 18) isn't about physical growth, but more about emotional growth. I can see his point about this.
Happiness isn't a constant state of being, learning to balance and control it is invaluable.

I've noticed this too, I think it's because it's easier to hate on things then praise things. For example: If I made a video saying a game is good, it's mostly subjective (outside of a few titles) and would probably get quite a few people who disagreed, however it's pretty easy to agree that a bad game is bad. I think that's why "TOP 10 WORST GAMES" videos get more views and are made more than "TOP 10 BEST GAMES" videos, it's safer and brings more views.
