'Officials said the woman walked away with only a broken arm...'
Thankfully that other cop was there to tell the first cop to move
She had to be scared shitless. I hope she learned a lesson from all this.
Jesus christ that second train.
Good thing that other cop was there to spot him while he tried to make the arrest.
two trains one girl
edit: In seriousness, I wonder how it feels to be the train conductor in that situation. Must be really shitty, since it's almost always impossible to stop the train in time.

My mother's uncle was a train conductor and he quit after hitting a baby that had been laid over the tracks right after a turn with a mountain side blocking the view.
That was pretty fucked up to hear about
Odd how the first train didn't slow down much (if at all?) but the second one came to a stop pretty quickly despite having 5 power units so probably hauling a sizable load.

One came in and talked to one of my classes. He said, because of how long it takes them to stop, that all they can do is slam on the emergency brake and lay on the horn.
He said he hit one car that had stalled on the tracks and the people in the car stayed in. Luckily the people were fine, but he said he was in shock walking back to the intersection from the engine thinking that he might of killed them. He said that he saw the guy in the passengers seats' face right before he hit them and that his eyes were huge and his face was white.

And to think I wanted to be a train conductor when I was a kid.

At the start of the video you can see the same train way in the distance. I think she just crashed into it.
A conductor once told me that you get your own story about hitting a person or vehicle on the track after your first year or 2.

What was once a seemingly nice joyful sounding job has now turned into a nightmare of anxiousness and depression.
glad porky pig was there to warn the other officer
i wonder how much she fucked up the train
does a car affect a train at all

probably about as much as a nail affects a hammer

drive faster next time?
My buddy's a conductor, and he's had at least one instance of some fucker pulling insurance fraud on his damn car.
Apparently you'd be surprised that the train DOES in fact suffer considerable damage, as effortless as they make it seem to plow right through a semi truck...
The bitch running from the police was damn lucky the two trains were going in the same direction. Had they been going in opposite directions she would have been spun the other way, facing the second train head-on, which would have most likely killed her.

That's because she hit the first train so far down the line that the engineers had to be told over the radio they were run into, which takes quite a bit of time. The police have to relay it to the train dispatcher, who then has to figure out which train has been hit and relay it to that train, which then has to get a mile long train stopped from 30-40MPH. Not a quick task.
As for them not knowing, freight trains like that can be up to a mile and a half long and a car bumping into them halfway down is impossible to feel from the locomotive.

AFAIK they're putting crumple zones on brand new locomotives these days.
