Something about the animations and voice acting is very off.
Something about the animations and voice acting is very off.
I think the voice acting is because the voices are isolated from whatever environment they would be in, so there's no other sounds. All the animations as far as I'm aware were mo-capped, so that's probably down to the actors or the implementation of the animations.
Something about the animations and voice acting is very off.
They probably don't have a lot of money to spare on the voice acting budget. The game is absolutely massive for the size of the team and I can't imagine the money they spent on just crafting the game's base systems and assets. Or maybe it's just the curse of the euro-jank. I'd be interested in this if they cut out the 3rd rate story. It comes off like a History channel historical drama. It perplexes me how they put so much focus on the plot when it's clear peoples interest in the game is purely mechanical.
Honestly I think they're just bad actors.
I disagree, look at 1:35 for example. When he's pushing the guys out of the way (wearing armor I might add) there's nothing. No armor clanking around, no footsteps, no reaction sounds, just our one actor for the scene. The lack of those sound effects makes the whole thing feel off. Also, they did spend some major dosh on actors: they got Brian Blessed for one of the characters - and just for him to attend a grand opening for something is roughly 8500 dollars, so I'd imagine his voice acting price is much higher than that.
it should also be taken into consideration that maybe the voice direction is just bad, you can have good actors but without a good director it's not worth much
Definitely true. I would prefer to see how everything mixes in the end - rather than just the voices in isolation before jumping onto "they're bad actors/bad voice direction" since we don't know how it truly sounds with everything else. Like for me, the lack of sounds effects was the most jarring thing, like when they're throwing shit at the guys house and you don't hear anything but the music, it just feels off. And I bring up Brian Blessed because it may just be that they had money for VA, and spent some of it in the wrong ways.
I want this for the gameplay and the world, I don't care about story cutscenes at all honestly. Game looks great.
I always remember it being pitched as a story based RPG, with your choices effecting the final outcome..
This has probably been the only game I've been consistently hyped for. I hope it turns out good.
