Don't blow up the forums about the performance yet, the CPU hasn't come out yet.
cool!
Why exactly is this related to the video? He just mentions it's coming out and then reviews a mouse...

The video is kind of misleading, but it's news (Ignore the rest in other words).
EDIT: If you skip to 5 minutes in he talks about leaked Haswell prices.
What's the point of this CPU when Intel is dominating the mid-high range market?
What's the point of this CPU when Intel is dominating the mid-high range market?
This is not a thread for your stupid debates, now leave.
What's the point of this CPU when Intel is dominating the mid-high range market?
Because not everyone can afford an expensive cpu
I remember the last time we mentioned a 5ghz CPU we thought the Pentium 4 was going to blow the lid off the multi-ghz barrier.
cool!
It will probably be the opposite of "cool"

This CPU costs $800. What the fuck are you on?
This CPU costs $800. What the fuck are you on?
You do realize it's a CPU that hasn't come out yet, right?
I mean at the moment Intel is more expensive.

You do realize that it's a high end CPU that won't graze most people's computers... Right? It won't magically drop down to 50 bucks a piece once it's released.
This isn't a competitor to the i3 and i5, so again, I ask - what's the point of this CPU from a marketing perspective, when Intel is dominating the market? This thing would fill a niché that's extremely tight (enthusiasts, developers, etc.)

Might as well not even try right. I mean its highly unlikely this could be a test for a new type of architecture or something. Theres no way they would make a high performance cpu then scale it back for mass consumers. Intel wins!
You can't win with these people. :suicide:

This isn't even about that.
Also: This isn't about winning either, think of the consumer!

jesus christ this video is annoying, he doesn't need to overlay stupid sounds to make it more 'interesting'
I thought it was not possible due to heat issues or bit jumping?

That's not the point, they're talking about a whole different thing which doesn't relate to the video.
This is supposed to be news about the worlds first 5GHz Stock Speed CPU.
If they want to drown their Intel fanboyism into the ground, go to the PC building section; I'm sure they'll accept you guys quite nicely (sarcasm).

It is actually. You don't do tests for a new architecture by releasing a product to the masses. What happens if it's a failure or a design flaw is discovered once it's already on the market? You pull the stock back with gigantic costs in both money and PR?
They should try, but unless they can think of something better than Sandy/Ivy, it's bound to flop.
That's sort of why they're stuck on the mobile market right now.

Listen, you dick - I don't know what your AMD hard-on is, but I'm trying to rationally discuss the topic at hand and you're just being an asshole.

We haven't went past the 5 GHz mark, not because we can't, but because there's no point.
Clock speed =/= Performance
Sorry for 'ruining your thread' by talking about 'a whole different thing'.

Okay lets discuss your stupid no Intel inside crap.
Tick-Tock Tick-Tock Tick-Tock Tick-Tock Tick-Tock Tick-Tock Tick-Tock Tick-Tock Crash!

What the fuck is that supposed to even mean? That Intel CPUs crash a lot? What?
What the fuck is that supposed to even mean? That Intel CPUs crash a lot? What?
No, I'm just wondering when Intel will abandon Tick-Tock before it's too late.
But at least it's good knowing Haswell has some good prices mind you (Not that I'm against you, this just isn't the thread to talk about such bullshit)
It's bragging rights to have a 5GHz processor (seen it in other forums).
And it's not pointless if it's for a milestone, really.
This guy is annoying and so are his shitty stock sounds.

If it's as fast or faster, and costs as much or less, It competes genius

If it costs $800, it'll compete with fuck-o if only a handful of people are buying it.

Blah blah blah Intel Blah blah blah tick tock blah blah blah AMD hard-on.
Nope.avi.

It could be only slightly faster and still be a success. I think we are at the point where we wont see any real big jumps in performance. I mean I never really push my FX unless im rendering with all cores. However there are a ton of idiots out there who still believe that clock speed = performance and would eat this up simply because it runs at 5ghz.

ever heard of the good old quote "do not judge a book by its cover"
its not even released yet
