Looks awesome to me.

It doesn't appear that different. I'm probably just grumpy because I couldn't get past the first level in the original.

Holy I think that was the entire point, batman.
Well it's just updated graphics and sound, with one or two added levels that were cut from the original, so if you didn't like Sonic 2, you probably wouldn't like the HD version.
Also, I've updated the OP in the GGD thread.
Yessss
My childhood is pleased

Yep, the Alpha release is supposed to be out soon as well, and will most likely contain Emerald Hill Zone and Hill Top Zone.
I never got past the 3rd part. I cant remember if that was the city or snow but either way it was hard as a kid.
looks like shit

What about it looks bad?
What about it looks bad?
Looks much better than anything Sega has pulled up in the past 10 years

What? It's not that hard, come on...
Now they just one-upped any sega attempt to revive sonic. Forever.
Something about the running animation looks somehow off.
They need to make a sonic game based purely on speed. None of that cute sonic's friends shit.

Here's a memory refresher for ya: Sonic 2's stage 2 is Chemical Plant Zone, a city of sorts. The "snow one" is from Sonic 3 and called Ice Cap Zone, it's the second to last before Launch Base Zone.
On Topic: I've always had fun with he sonic games, I've played nearly all of them and beaten about 70% of the games, not 70% of each game but 70% of all the Sonic games that are out in the world.
I await this like a fat kid awaits a fresh baked pound cake.
Hasn't there been like 10 sequels?
Something about the running animation looks somehow off.
Probably because it's slower. 3D animation has never been able to really show how fast Sonic is, even when it came to Sega's own Dreamcast in the Sonic Adventure games. In fact, in Sonic 2's Chemical Plant zone you could run SO fast briefly that you would disappear off screen for just a moment.
In 3D animation Vs. 2D Sprites, 2D sprites win in top speed.

Edit: It said he's been waiting for a sequel to Sonic.

There are thirteen not including spin-offs and others, they are:
Sonic the Hedgehog · 2 · CD · 3 · Sonic & Knuckles · Adventure · Adventure 2 · Heroes · Shadow the Hedgehog · Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) · Unleashed · 4 · Colors
I'll be following the progress of this like a hawk!
looks interesting. A reboot of a broken franchise. Sounds fun.
Well this is better than any new official sonic games.
My childhood has returned! And it's better than ever! I'm defiantly checking this out!
Indeed. If you are interested, you can listen to some of the music that is scheduled to be in the game in the GGD thread posted at the top of the thread.
