Yeah, Japan really doesn't like otaku.
I want to see an American culture-obsessed Japanese person come to the US, just to see if they'd be like this Otaku... guy. Also, what were they laughing at around the very beginning of the video? The quality is so bad, I couldn't tell.
The guy they are making fun of doesn't seem to be all there.
Yeah, Japan really doesn't like otaku.
Contrary to what most American otaku believe. When my Japanese relatives came over I pretty much kept quiet about anything anime related so that they wouldn't think I was weird.
Oh god they're absolutely ruthless

Funny, but still abit mean.
The presenters are pretty big assholes, and the guy just seems to take it.
Fuck I wish my parents were rich enough to ship me off to another country for months and pay for literally whatever I wanted. [editline]2nd September 2013[/editline]
The presenters are pretty big assholes, and the guy just seems to take it.
It's fairly obvious he doesn't have a huge grasp of the Japanese language, which makes it that much more mean.
i wanna see what happens next, is there a video?
The presenters are pretty big assholes, and the guy just seems to take it.
If I was Japanese I'd be fed up of American man-babies emigrating to the country under the premise that its a live-action anime series and generally failing to integrate in to the culture.
they are both comedians, keep that in mind lol, though they are saying what most people are likely thinking. btw for those who dont know what otagei is, it's the dance of "wotas" (idol fans) that they do during idol performances (to show their "love" or what have you for the idol in question) my favorite example: a more "professional" one [editline]2nd September 2013[/editline]
i wanna see what happens next, is there a video?
that is the end of the segment. when they are talking about going to see the girl, they mean without him [editline]2nd September 2013[/editline]
Funny, but still abit mean.
they are comedians, it is all in good fun, really. they don't really care
it's not terribly unlike some stuff you see on british television, to be honest
Good point! One of my favourite bits of merciless British television is that episode of Nevermind the Buzzcocks when some cheesy singer person storms off the set after the host repeatedly ridiculed his wife.
Oh man, that video quality
I know that Japan isn't the Otaku paradise people think it is but still from Pictures I see people post they use Anime characters in Advertising and have them on Trains and Cars. I know that quite a few of you (lucky) guys were in Japan. Does one just get the impression that Anime is widespread there because thats what tourists like to take pictures of or? Or is it just like this in the big cities?

to be honest i'm a tidbit sick of how facepunch has set the idea that japan is 100% some kind of weird and wonderful paradise for weird shit and anime set in stone. a country like no other filled with people like no other. it doesn't happen so much with any other country for whatever reason. maybe because a huge portion of facepunch is borderline obsessed with the bloody country
oh the things I would do for a HQ version the avatar potential is unprecedented
it'd be so weird to be in Japan in America but I'm smart enough that I'd have at least TRIED to copy the locals. such as wrapping gifts and how they do it. Wear slippers indoors rather than socks, etc.
??? japanese people usually just wear socks or slippers indoors, like pretty much everywhere else bar america and the uk
typo, and, I didn't know anywhere else that its a social norm to wear slippers, as they seem to be very much about sanitation. I know you shouldn't sneeze/blow your nose around people as they don't like that
it's like he copied all of his japanese from anime "ebangelion itchy-bun daisuki anime desu"
sneezing is generally fine, but blowing your nose loudly is considered rude. and not just in japan, same goes where i live
holy shit i'm in tears jesus christ how can you go that low
I've never noticed this.
look at any sensationalist headlines thread that has 'japan creates/invents/does x'. you will quickly notice what i mean 'haha what will those crazy japs do next???'
