Jaeger Designs look a bit eehhhh? But hell, I'm glad it at least exists. No idea about the angle they're going for but I guess we'll have to see. Also, I feel like they shouldn't have used Ellen's voice again. It still just sounds waaaay too much like glados.
Glados created the jaeger also the point was it DID sound like glados
It still just sounds waaaay too much like glados.
Well, it's kinda intentional. Del Toro is a big Portal fan. :v:
Well, it's kinda intentional. Del Toro is a big Portal fan. :v:
Yeah I know, it's just kinda jarring is all.
i think the glados voice is fucking great personally. either way, for the first movie she only sounded like glados for the trailer, her voice in the actual movie sounded different
I'm just waiting for the reveal that the breaches that the Kaiju come through originated from an experiment in a New Mexico lab going wrong in the mid-90s. The scientists there were able to rectify the core of the problem (somehow) without the rest of the world knowing (time travel? why not, with the Gman involved, who knows what kind of hijinks he could pull :v:), but the damage was still done to a much smaller extent, to the fact it took decades before the holes punched by the experiment widened enough for Kaiju to come through. Valve, please give Del Toro permission to tie Pacific Rim to Half-Life canon. ; - ;
So why is it an uprising? Are they ripping off XCOM 2 and the skyscraper-sized aliens run world governments now?
i think the glados voice is fucking great personally. either way, for the first movie she only sounded like glados for the trailer, her voice in the actual movie sounded different
nah sounded pretty much like GLaDOS in the movie too.
Yeah I know, it's just kinda jarring is all.
She was in the first movie so it makes sense for her to come back
Really don't like any of the Jaeger designs. They look like knockoff Evangelion units from a low budget tv series
She was in the first movie so it makes sense for her to come back
Yeah as the vo for the interface. You only ever heard like 5 word sentences from her if I remember right. Again, not really a big deal all in all. [editline]20th July 2017[/editline]
Really don't like any of the Jaeger designs. That's kinda reaching though.
Really not feeling either the Jaegar or pilot suit designs. The Jaegars look too smooth(no, I don't want Bayformers but still) and the pilot suit has almost no cover I do find it interesting how all of it seems to be "selling" the Jaegers though. Its set 10 years after PR Also
2035 - THE JAEGER UPRISING It’s been ten years since The Battle of the Breach and the oceans are still, but restless. Vindicated by the victory at the Breach, the Jaeger program has evolved into the most powerful global defense force in human history. The PPDC now calls upon the best and brightest to rise up and become the next generation of heroes. When the Kaiju threat returns, we will be ready. The Jaeger designs make sense. They're obviously derived from the only two Jaegers that survived long enough to close the breach. Refining what can easily be described as the two successful designs makes perfect sense.
Also in the year 2017 why do I have to sign up for text alerts instead of e-mail? God damn ninjas
It seems like they've removed the need to have two pilots, interesting.
I don't care much for the newer designs...They lack that flair and bombastic functional feeling of the ones from the first movie. They're too clean.
My only peeve is that [sp]they showing only John Boyega's character in the new Gypsy Danger, when the point of two pilots in the cockpit is that the toll of one human brain operating a Jaeger was too much to handle.[/sp] Other than that, I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT FOR THIS MOVIIIEE!!

They've got from industrial looking mecha to super robots but all their sillouhettes are way too similair. I'll wait until I see a finished full CG render of them but the sillouhete's are all pretty boring right now
I liked the co pilot concept.
Mako Mori is still a main character in the new movie right?
I understand that this is supposed to be a fake in universe commercial and all that and in reality it's also to show off the star talent with John Boyega but where are the two main characters from the first one? Did they retire, why aren't they in the commercial? I mean I guess I should just wait for an actual trailer. [editline]edit[/editline] Also what's the time frames here, 5-10 years after the first one?

But they're not as awful as I thought from the first picture I saw of them. But yeah, they kinda blend together designwise.

i hope there's another 3-or-more armed robot, the concept of that thing was sick but we never really got to see it in action for more than a few seconds
Maybe I'll have to actually see how they look in the film with all their grime and grit on them, but the Jaegers themselves look really plain and tinny. All of the Jaegers in the first film impressed me with how they actually felt like gargantuan, working, machines rather than upscaled robot designs. It's really hard to tell now though, since the only thing that really gave the ones in the first movie credence was actually seeing them in motion. I also hope they're not going with quantity over quality with them too. The first movie only had 4 main Jaegers, yet only 2 of them got even any decent screentime. I really hope they can do 7 justice.
It seems like they've removed the need to have two pilots, interesting.
Taking it one step closer to Evangelion.
That new bionicle set looks ok i guess.
The designs makes sense to me. The Jaegers are more streamlined because they want them to look appealing to the world. Like how cars started off boxy and became more rounded as time went on. These aren't just fighting robots anymore, they're the symbols of their nations. Do you want the giant robot that represents your country to look like an industrial monster or a sleek guardian?
