Tool assisted :(
Tool assisted :(
Why does everyone assume "Tool Assisted Speedruns" are cheating? It STILL requires a lot of dedication and practice. The guy has got to have a lot skills to be able to do that.

With those things you can just savestate and redo things over and over and over until you get it right. That's not skillful, it's just using a lot of time.

1 guy beats 4 Mega Man games at once.
I'd imagine the tool used is something that lets him use one controller for two games. Seriously, how the hell are you going to do that otherwise...?
By "Tool Assisted" I believe they mean that they needed to use an emulator to input into more then one game, everything else is done manually. He also uses some glitches in the game to help him.
A tool-assisted speedrun (short: TAS) is a speedrun that is made with use of tools. Tools are features that help the playing that are not available in regular playing. Common examples of tools: * Slow motion, pause, and frame advance o (Never letting the game to go too fast to handle.) * Precise timer o (A frame-by-frame counter of movie length, that helps comparing different paths.) * Re-recording o (Ability to undo unwanted actions and retry.) * Hex-editing o (Copying and editing of input stream segments.) * Autofire o (Also called “turbo”, as found in some game controllers. Automatically repeating pressing of a button.)

Just because they state that it's a TAS doesn't mean he used all of the available tools. Read more.
No, but the idea of a Tool Assisted Speedrun is to complete a game as quickly as possible, abusing bugs, glitches and programming errors that allow the user to complete the game at a faster speed than normal. 99% of the TAS guys use every tool that is available to them, there's no reason not to really. [editline]20th October 2010[/editline] In the instance of these 2-game-1-input speedruns, they create an input sequence that when applied to either game, it's able to complete both games at the same time. The program stores the controller inputs, and in this instance, the controller inputs are sent to both games at the same time.
