Hey, cool to see Novawar posted here. That was a pretty good way to lay it out though. It's tough to understand the level of stress people like TB actually go through if you're not a part of that industry.
Shit you had already posted this I love you for making this thread, man my heart was tearing itself apart when i saw this
Realtalk starts at 6:27 It really pisses me off that most people don't understand how dangerous stress can be.
see this is EXACTLY what scares me about going into lets plays and other things game related. The thing with the internet is that it's easy to say what you want when your name isn't on the line. You're totally anonymous. That gives people the ability to say whatever the fuck they want without the fear of anything happening. Now the person producing the content gets the exact opposite. People know who they are, and whatever they say or do, whether it be right or wrong, they will get judged and/or criticised by it. The average person can usually cope with this in their daily life. sure it can be stressful, but when it comes to the internet, people can and will fuck your shit up for no apparent reason. Because they can. I already get stressed a ton when it comes to really simple stupid things. The thought of that being multiplied by anything (implying you get popular) just outright scares me. I don't know how I'd cope. That being said, there are many lets players and such out there that are fine when it comes to that type of thing. Probably because their content doesn't attract as many retards from the internet. So I guess I'll just have to careful if I ever decide to get into that business.
He's a good looking man.
He's a good looking man.
Out of everything in the video, I am glad that's the only thing you got out of watching.
-guy being part of the problem then snipping it-
You know, that's exactly part of the problem right here, it's not about how deep an insult goes, it's the sheer amount of it. There are many great analogies in that video, check them and then read what you just typed man.

In the first world there are millions of people severely depressed because they feel worthless due to their having little impact on the world, but people like TB have NOTHING wrong with their life. Not to mention the people literally dying in less fortunate countries. This is first world problems to the max, and the fact that you guys can't see that is honestly embarrassing. I'm sorry, but I really do not give a shit about how bad TB feels, he doesn't have to feel like a worthless person anymore.
What, no quips about how it's all a game?
Um no because that isn't relevant to the discussion right now, but go ahead and make fun of me because I have an opinion on something that you clearly don't even understand. Anyway, I'm out of here, this thread is full of fanboys incapable of understanding different viewpoints
The very first thing he says lacks looking at the fact that Hollywood stars are using the internet too and get death threats and even people breaking into their houses.

boohoo I play video games for a living. My life is so hard. Those laborers in undeveloped countries should be glad they don't have to make YouTube videos like me.

He's going through really tough times. What, so just because he has a big following that makes him somehow incapable of emotion, thought or issue?

We're talking about internet celebritites, and the shit that happens to them. Don't come in here and make a quip to make us feel awful for not taking all of our shit and helping one country.
I agree with almost every word of this video and feel that the way internet celebrities get treated is absolutely disgusting, but I have to ask: why is the gaming community choosing this as the point where people finally start to agree? TotalBiscuit sure wasn't a saint. He doesn't deserve even half of what his shithead "fans" throw at him, but he could be downright antagonistic toward anyone who doesn't agree with him. It was only a few months ago that the gaming community put Phil Fish and others through even worse than what TB has been through, and I've yet to see any introspection, apology, or heartfelt support for him like I'm seeing for TB, despite both of these people being, well, assholes. I'm willing to bet that half of you guys nodding silently at the video in the OP were on the forefront of the shitflinging directed at Phil Fish, Anita Sarkeesian, etc, and you're hypocrites if that's the case. I see this video as a good first step but it's all talk and no substance at this point. I'll be willing to believe that gamers have grown up when they actually fucking grow up. I'm not directing this at all of you but if you're angry at this post you're probably one of the ones it is directed at.
Why do I have to come to this threat to finally found someone else who remembers how a lot of people disliked TB for being a dick a few months back.
It was cool to hate him not that long ago. Hell, I may even have been guilty of getting caught up in it, I don't remember. This is literally that Michael Jackson thing the guy in the OP's video talked about.
Naw there's the video of someone meeting him in the streets and the whole "I don't give a fuck about single fans a big channel goes by statistics, you can't request what I do" thing on Youtube which is arguably kind of sarcastically funny in regards to the current stuff.
You can still hear about 'TB being a dick' from the man himself. https://soundcloud.com/totalbiscuit/nonsense
You can still hear about 'TB being a dick' from the man himself. https://soundcloud.com/totalbiscuit/nonsense
Wow. Pretty cool of him. [editline]17th February 2014[/editline] Although I think that taking it out into the public is not a good step in getting better, it once again puts the attention to the fact that and how he put it out there instead of the issue itself.

He's right about new content creators living for the comments. Whenever I put out a video, especially a headliner that I've put a lot of work into, I obsess over the feedback. Sometimes I end up refreshing the page once every 10 seconds hoping to see more views and likes and especially new comments.

Make up your opinions people and don't copy others then do the same thing, don't follow patterns someone has laid down for you, hating something because someone else hates it and makes up a good reason for it isn't a way to go about things, rather question why does this person hates it, look from another point of view and that point of view is meant to be yours.
