I've been looking for a game like a Minecraft remake. Is ECO any good?
I, for one, welcome our bison overlords.
You know, the meteor gimmick is actually pretty cool I think
That game looks fun

Its really fun with friends! Alone can be kinda boring and pretty hard.
I'm down for Minecraft clones when they change it up like this.
Looks fun to me. How modable is it?
I'd be down for playing with some EU Facepunchers
I'd love a game like this, but that meteor is giving me all sorts of dread. I hope long range weaponry is easy to make in this game.

it's not, but the entire point of the game is you have a whole 30 IRL days to complete the challenge, which for a large group of people is achievable.
the whole ecology aspect is thrown in to spice things up. do you completely scrape the planet clean of resources and cause everything to go extinct with pollution in your pursuit to prevent the meteor causing total annihilation, or do you try to preserve the world in the process.
I would like a non-meteor mode just to see how fucked a generated world can get with a large enough player base.
I've been following this game for awhile; my only hesitation is the crafting system as I've found that many games similar to this which has a heavy emphasis on crafting go completely insane with it; one of the biggest examples being Space Engineers.

As far as I'm aware currently there isn't much mods right now, but the developers are making it with the intention of being able to mod any and every aspect of the game.

You can turn off the meteor when you make a server. And the crafting system can be a little overwhelming, but that is why the game has an emphasis on playing in groups. When we played I solely focused on cooking. There was so much to do in just cooking that one person needed to focus on it. And that's true for any of the other skill paths.
Now you can adjust how much it cost to gain skills so people can dabble in other skill trees. That way if its just you and two or three other friends its more manageable.

Another tip is when you first get a skill like hewing log processing, its best to max out efficiency as soon as you can. That way you can craft more with less logs. Pretty much every skill path you need to max out efficiency otherwise you'll completely wreck the ecosystem.
One other thing that I think is it actually pretty cool about this game is that building houses actually has a purpose. Unlike Minecraft where you build a house and its just there to look nice, in Eco building a house gives you more skill points per day. The skill points are gain from having a balance house. So multiply room types and each room having a balance amount of furniture distributed throughout will maximize your skill point gain per day.
