I don't know if I'm ready to trust it but after Volvo's insane semi-truck automatic emergency braking this stuff is definitely on it's way up. On an unrelated note, this Genesis has a suspiciously familiar grille and overall design language. Peter Schreyer is obviously hard at work. :v:
How does the lane keeping thing and the auto emergency brake work?
I don't remember if they were the ones to want to do that follow-the-leader self-driving convoy thing, but this is definitely a step towards that. Cars are awesome.
How does the lane keeping thing and the auto emergency brake work?
The auto emergency brake uses a forward facing camera and radar, and the lane keeping assist system just uses the forward facing camera. The lane keeping assist system also provides haptic feedback to the steering wheel (as well as audio/visual warnings) which I think is pretty neat, but to my understanding the system only corrects the steering (keeps the lane) for a limited amount of time. Assuming that the driver will become aware to the situation as a result of the feedback and warnings, the system will automatically deactivate to keep people from using it as an actual auto pilot. :v:

This technology has been available in some of Mercedes' vehicles for about 6 or 7 years already, but it's extremely cool to see it demonstrated like this. Hyundai and South Korean cars in general are definitely starting to break free of the reputation they had ten years ago. Oh man, this lane keeping system is awesome. Imagine long rides to vaccation places or something like that with that? You just lean back and watch a movie or do something else.
Having technology like this widely available will directly impact the number of deaths recorded from people falling asleep at the wheel.
Having technology like this widely available will directly impact the number of deaths recorded from people falling asleep at the wheel.
Eventually we will snooze at the wheel like nothing ever happened, aside from the fact you'd be thinking "Where the fuck am I?".
Having technology like this widely available will directly impact the number of deaths recorded from people falling asleep at the wheel.
If you watched the video, you'd see the car stops when there's something braking/stationary in front of it
