They have a partnership with Pewdiepie, he's the biggest youtuber there is and he's still working with them.

He donates the money to organizations helping people survive, not to people who take "donations" in return for a product such as art/music/games/whatever

That's strange to hear. I have been partnered with them for over a year and have been treated quite well. Maker tends to be way more trustworthy and nice than someone like the people at Machinima, but maybe that's just the personal bias of never liking that network of sharks. I hope the guy does well, good to see the Patreon doing nicely.
