A pug doesn't have as bad a life as you think they do. It all depends on how you raise them. Don't over feed and don't take them out in extreme heat. Mine has three legs due to abuse from a previous owner, but because of our efforts she has had no other health problems. We know not to feed her too much and we know not to let her out in the heat too much.
I know this is a big rant, but seeing people constantly mention this about these dogs just upsets me.
