My only issues with the Zombies maps that came out with Black Ops II and Black Ops III is that it ended up becoming a chore in order to play it.
Instead of it being a raw wave survival minigame, with some goodies hidden here and there, the maps relied on really annoying gimmicks that just sucked up time and made it really boring. Nothing's worse than sitting on Wave 6 or 7 because your chucklefuck teammates refuse to kill the crawler so they can go figure out the mystery of the Hairy Nipples or something.
The best map outside of the original World at War maps was "Ascension" for Black Ops 1. Simple, fun gimmicks while the map still focused largely on wave defense.

That's my issues with maps like Mob of the Dead. Having to go from one area of the prison to collect the plane parts and do a few extra bits for some hidden melee weapon felt tiring by the time the Zombies had begun to get somewhat difficult to handle. It was more about dodging the zombies to collect the parts more than fighting the zombies.
The easter egg songs are still nice though.

Der Eisendrache was pretty non-gimmicky
the first map in black ops 3 was pretty frustrating because of all the 'bonus' shit that was needed to play. the giant and DE are pretty normal maps though, you can easily just play through without even knowing or caring about the bonus stuff like bows and whatever.
I remember loving/hating the space one in Black Ops 2(?). It was innovative, but too many people tried to do the Easter egg and we were lucky to get past level 6. There would be either attempts, or sabotages to hold the game up.

That would be Moon from Black Ops I. It was pretty cool blasting a zombie with a shotgun only to see it's corpse slowly fly off into orbit when you're in the outside areas. My only biggest problem was using the hacking device to ward off the excavator from destroying the base and sucking the oxygen out of the moon base. I remember playing with random players, only to die because they were trying to activate the easter egg, expecting everyone to know how it goes and which step to perform in order to activate it.
Nacht der Untoten from WaW is still a very pure experience, and I can't help but revisit it every now and then

Man, I remember the hype of waiting for the patch to come out on PC. Those were fun times
They need to sell off zombies as a standalone experience. I know a lot of people who'd love to play zombies but not cod

unfortunately that will probably never happen.

So many side things everyone loves and remembers that could make for great mobile or standalone experiences, and they never get the chance.

Yeah, they should just make a zombie-game already. All the zombie-stuff seems awesome, but since they're just DLCs for the main game, I've never played any of them.
They should just make a zombie game, put in an actual singleplayer for the story and then leave the coop part alone.
