I think they did a pretty damn good job, all things considered, and it's really surprising to hear something like this from them. At least, it's better than what The Vamps did to Cecelia. I always felt like Sound of Silence could be done pretty well in a metal sound, but preferably a power-ballad style. They did a fantastic job, they didn't try to change it too much and they put a lot of heart into it. As much as Disturbed gets hate, the dude's voice has a lot of range and it fits the song quite well.
I really like all of Disturbed's Covers, Land of Confusion, and Living After Midnight are both amazing. this one is no different
i legitimately like disturbed only slightly less than how i legitimately like Korn. Say what you will about the substance of it, a lot of the shit sounds wicked sick.
Eh... I don't really like it. It's like trying be more intense than what fits, and I'm just not feeling it.
Down With the Silence/The Sounds of Sickness
This is very, very surprising. I like it.
Then what's that very digital pitch change at 0:54?
Heavy post processing has always been a big part of nu-metal
was expecting yuh muh nuh

I don't like it. It lacks the harmony that Simon & Garfunkel had. Then again, I'm not a fan of either Disturbed or cover songs. The only cover that I honestly like is Mad world by Gary Jules.
Then what's that very digital pitch change at 0:54?
You can't belittle dudes vocal ability for adding flair in post-processing. Completely unfair when people do this.
The only cover that I honestly like is Mad world by Gary Jules.
On that note, wow, the original kind of sucks.
Heavy post processing has always been a big part of nu-metal
They stopped most of their nu-metal stuff quite a while back. They're just metal now. As for the song, I thought it was kinda meh until it reached the middle, then it got really damn good. The ending kinda killed the mood with the overly intense vocals, though. It fits with the "mad" aspect of the world, the cheery sounding music with the depressing lyrics.
I don't really like Disturbed, but shit this is great.
Holy fuck. Disturbed are a guilty pleasure of mine, but I want them to do more songs like this. By the time it starts getting around 3:00, with the synth pads at their apex and him just belting out those vocals. God damn. I would love a Disturbed album done like this. Would be a great change of pace.
I can't be the only one thinking that Nevermore did it best.
that was great.
