Nice to see the Brutes make a return, at least
The fact that CA is working on this now has me really interested.
On PC no less.
WINDOWS FUCK YEA
Oh god Halo Wars on PC. This is all I needed. To be able to not use a controller to play an RTS I want to play. Thank you kindly MS.
Welp that's pretty much the greatest Halo-related news I've heard since Reach.
It's halo 2 vista all over again. Why are they locking it to windows 10?
Ahaha, Halo finally comes to PC after all these years and it's fucking Wars locked to Windows 10.
It's halo 2 vista all over again. Why are they locking it to windows 10?
Because it's free for anyone that has Windows 7/8 so why bother supporting older and objectively inferior operating systems when it's available for anyone who wants/needs it? [editline]4th August 2015[/editline] Unless you're one of the Windows 10 is a botnet people, it's just a fact that Windows 10 is an improvement on 7 and 8 when it comes to features and performance.
It's halo 2 vista all over again. Why are they locking it to windows 10?
At least it's not Vista this time and it's a free update for almost anyone and is the best Windows update since XP.
The only reason I haven't upgraded yet is because I still run a lot of older games, and I'm worried about compatibility issues.
If it works on 7/8 it works on 10.

Seriously though, while I do plan on upgrading to windows 10, I'm just skeptical about it only working on windows 10 considering there was a guide to getting halo 2 vista to work on XP.

Halo 2 for Vista had some weird shit alongside it that made it a tiny bit harder to get working on XP but there shouldn't be any scenario where you can't just play this on 7/8/8.1.
This isn't coming till 2016, so it would probably be DX12, not like Halo 2 Vista which says its DX10 but its really just DX9
I'm really starting to get the impression that the people who are complaining about Windows 10 are the people who have illegitimate copies and can't upgrade. The sooner Windows 7/8 are left in the dust, the better. It's free. Nothing breaks compatibility. DirectX12 allows developers to use 300-600% of the drawcalls and get a good 2-5FPS boost in their games. Not to mention the CPU overhead has been decreased adding to more performance. Even if you're going from Win8 DX11 to Win10 DX11, it's improving a bit. I know Vulkan can do the same thing, but in order to get maximum performance, people will use Win10 for the optimization and various improvements.

Can't wait. Having an Xbone is starting to be better and better.
Holy shit this is great news to me. Halo wars was my first RTS. Unfortunately it was on the 3 and with a gamepad. Im happy its coming to PC
If its a true DX12 game I doubt you'll be able to jury rig it to run on Windows 7/8.1, it isn't like DX9-10 where theirs only a few minor differences.
If it works on 7/8 it works on 10.
Not quite. Games broken by Windows 8 remain broken in Windows 10, an example being Tiberian Sun.
The only reason I haven't upgraded yet is because I still run a lot of older games, and I'm worried about compatibility issues.
Older games that work on 7 and 8 work fine on 10. It is newer games you need to worry about. [editline]4th August 2015[/editline]
Windows 10 is a marketing platform.
It is? Wow, I've been using it all this time and never knew! How wrong I was! Thank you Widnows 7 user for showing me the light.
It's halo 2 vista all over again.
You mean how you can play Halo 2 on XP? Unless it uses dx12 which i highly doubt it will but we'll see. Yes you might need some tweaking, or a third party program, or turning off explorer.exe to get rid of graphical glitches like in Diablo 1 but that's about it.

Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert are also broken in a similar way, but hey, those games are nearly twenty years old. Can't expect Microsoft to build an OS with twenty year old software in mind, to be honest..
Just Dual boot 7 if old games are so important to you
Just Dual boot 7 if old games are so important to you
Not only that but changing compatibility mode to 7 should work fine too if the game is being fucky.
Not only that but changing compatibility mode to 7 should work fine too if the game is being fucky.
Well the thing is, I have the PC port of Metal Gear Solid, which was like, a Windows 98 game. The patches get it working on Windows 7, so it should work on 10, yeah?
Honestly never thought they'd do another one of these again.
