Pretty sure the entry of PUBG was mostly a joke.

The gameplay is frustrating when you're talking about the numerous amounts of bugs and how unpolished it feels
And yes, the interface is complete trash, especially the main menu
The game itself is still very fun though

I dislike PUBG.
I actually feel quite out of the loop. Normally I can understand why people like/dislike things even if I disagree, but in the case of Yooka Laylee and PUBG this year I'm just at a total loss. I just flat out don't get it.
I know very few people rhat actually enjoyed yooka laylee, not saying it was an abonimation on mankind but its a definitive flop
People did enjoy it though, most of my friends did. A lot of people didn't like PUBG either, obviously as a proportion less but still just by statistics there are loads of people out there that dislike it. I'm saying I don't understand the ones who did like these games. Which is a first for me tbh, normally I can at least understand why people enjoy things I don't, and you'd expect vice versa. But I've spent time trying to like these games and I think they're both just terrible.

In my experience, the people(people I personally know) that end up liking games like these are also people who have played nothing more than Overwatch and Destiny or the like for over a year straight, with no breaks or branching out to different games or systems. Only Overwatch, all the time, same characters and maps(this can be said of League of Legends, WoW, you know the type of patterned behavior I'm speaking of). Then, for whatever reason, they opt to play something new and herald it as the greatest thing ever. I'm not saying it's not good, but it is a possible scenario where even though the game may suffer greatly in whatever issues it may, the sheer freshness of it compared to the grind of hundreds of not thousands of LoL or Overwatch matches... Of course it's going to seem good. Right?
There's no doubt a term for this behavior, in which someone living the same routine for a very long time suddenly diverges and does something adventurous only to be enriched and invigorated for doing something most would perceive as mundane.
Ah yes, Hello Neightbor. It's a shame that game went to development hell because the very first demo the game had it actually looked very fun.

I enjoyed the game and I'm a backer, but yes it was a disappointment. Is it a bad game? No, but it tried to be 1-on-1 with Banjo-Kazooie and it didn't work out well. A Hat in Time did a much more fantastic job at being a "spiritual successor" to N64/Gamecube 3D Platformers because it gave itself a identity and not just trying to copy-paste from other game, which is what feels with Yooka-Laylee.
When the fuck did Hello Neighbor suddenly turn into a puzzle platforming "horror" game about a kid trying to get his ball back from a creepy neighbor?
I swear, completely abandoning their original concepts that the game was announced, hyped and advertised on for Youtuber bait horseshit was the worst route they could've gone.

Yes, this 100% describes my younger cousin who now plays Fortnite BR.
He was so hyped up for D2 since D1 is the game that got him into gaming and he fucking abandoned it less than a month after release.

It's not my thing, but I get it. I feel like people get hooked on the tension and paranoia that you don't really get from other shooters where you just kinda respawn and die over and over inconsequentially.
I guess people liked Yooka Laylee out of desperation for a 3D platformer. But now that Odyssey and A Hat in Time exist, there's basically no point in buying it since it's by far the worst of the bunch.
