The stuff on early consoles is very interesting. And he makes being a dev seem so exciting, always treading on unexplored terrain...

He makes a very good point on exotic tech. Devs have their software ready and it would be expensive to make a new engine entirely from scratch to support new tech. This was possible in the first few generations because the technology changed drastically and it actually was worth it to take the jump, say, from 2D to 3D.
I never heard of the guy. Suddenly he turns up and turns out to have been behind a ton of great shit in gaming. Did history just invent him out of the blue and retroactively patch him in?
I never heard of him before the PS4 announcement either, but holy fuck he has a prestigious career history.
Spyro 2 was one of my favorite PS1 games, and after looking at the box during this presentation his name is literally plastered all over it.
It's so nice to see that there is someone behind the scenes at these companies that has a real passion in what he's creating an that it's not all business suits and money making.
For a non Japanese person to get so far up in Sony is very impressive.
Looks like John Carmack has a challenger.

I don't see anyone else at Sony going nearly as deep as him.

He'll get nowhere close without "aigh" and "In there, up there, on there"
He reminds me of the main character in Master of Disguise.
