What market is this even for?
The market that paid for it ahead of time, twice.
I don't wanna fork that.
For the amount of money it got, the end result is really sub par.

When did people pay twice for it? All I remember is the kickstarter, and the free update for Act 2.

There was a second Kickstarter along the way, alongside funding from the first act being purchased in its Early Access state, because they needed more money to continue development. Odds are it was due to the voice actors as this video suggests.

I'm not seeing any second kickstarter from doublefine for broken age anywhere on their kickstarter account. Where'd you see that?
I'm really confused about where this whole "people bought it twice" thing came from. They did have a donate page on their site, but that was optional.

No, they released the game in two parts and used the proceeds from the first part to finish the second part. AFAIK there was no second kickstarter.
Though they did accept donations after the kickstarter ended, but that's done by pretty much every crowdfunded game.
I was really disappointed with how it ended, and how it failed to explain how and why it did.
