Why explode it there? I don't think anyone but the guys in the car got hurt.
That was a pretty big bomb and it went off when a car was passing it on both sides. And I bet they were driving in the middle like that to avoid roadside bombs. They place them on the outer part of the road to be run over so the road is useable by those who know where they are but not by those who do not.
