It's a bit of a shame, since they can play slower stuff without losing their edge... "Dead Skin Mask" comes to mind. It's not blistering fast, Tom is not screaming like a pig about to be slaughtered.

Hell, they could definitely release an entire album comprised of slower, heavy stuff -maybe even with a Doom edge to it- and I'd be all over it.

This album... eh, I need to give it a more thorough listen and let it grow in me, perhaps.

Controversial opinion, perhaps, but I actually prefer Araya's later vocals, starting around God Hates Us All. I like early era Araya but newer sounds much rawer in a way that fits the music imo.

I personally found the verses to be pretty uninspired.

The instrumental breaks and solo were pretty neat, though. Not even to carry the song, in my opinion, but pretty neat.
