First time I've seen something I've found really genuinely awesome painted in VR
Zbrush seems like the best thing to come out of vr and it's not even a game (coming from someone whose never used vr so I know nothing)

I think you meant tilt brush :v:
you guys should check out what the Halo designers can do with it:

This is incredible. I could totally see companies (valve) having people submit 3d art like this to a portfolio of some kind on a platform (their steam account) and allow people to purchase the right to have it put in their game or just get it to print in 3D. Or Valve themselves using people's 3d art in their games, similar to the community maps in tf2. Hell even just people having their own galleries with 3d stuff that you can watch, screenshots from games, art such as this. The possibilities are endless.
I guess this is very similar to modelling, but with a brush, and none of the properties regular modelling has.

Well, thing is, I think that work-wise tilt brush is more of a tool for concept artists, it's a fast way to sketch out an idea of an object or environment and consider what it looks like from different angles (which you can't do in one 2d painting). The end result looks pretty rough, so it's nowhere near as good as a finished product but great as a quick sketching tool.
If you want something that you can use as an asset you would need to refine it in more standard 3d modelling programs and at that point you might as well just use them from the start if you're proficient enough since they have much more tools (texturing an object, setting up lights and so on).
Having VR is a big bonus due to being able to look around from different angles, but you don't need it at all when you can move the camera with a mouse in a 3d modelling program already.
Going further with your idea I think it would be much cooler to have digital artbooks in VR where you walk around a gallery with paintings, panoramas and 3d sculpts where you can see every nook and cranny of the model. But those would be obviously done in more industry standard programs.
I swear, if Valve doesn't have a VR mode for Hammer, I'll probably break into tears. It seems like something that'd be straight up their ballpark.
I want level and 3D-object creation in VR
I mean something like this video (in terms of UI and overall workflow) is actually sort of possible now

Said it before but might as well say it again, tilt brush is amazing for doing quick renders of 3D environments and models, sure it looks cheap and nasty at times but it sure is better at showing what something looks like in 3D than say a sketch drawing.

Whoo it's been years since I saw this and just the other day I was wondering how would I find it again
