translation: guy has lived with severe tourettes for the last 20 years of his life, medical marijuana helps him control his spasms so he can function in day to day life
good stuff
Wait, weed takes the jitters away?
Is this shit real? I mean, look at him! He looks like some guy on speeds or something, and then he smokes weed, and becomes completely normal. It's almost unreal, because he just looks like he's going a thousand miles a second!
and oh god please stop laughing

Yes, this is why there's such a big push for medical marijuana.
Marijuana can be used to treat a lot of diseases, like tourettes, epilepsy, and can be used to mitigate the harmful effects of cancer treatment like loss of appetite and sickness.

Growers will breed strains of Marijuana with high CBD (anti-epileptic properties) and low THC (the part that gets you high) to maximize medical benefit without side effects of getting high

Is the THC the most harmful part from where problems could stem from aswell?
We know weed is almost harmless, but theres still some negative effects in the long run, right?
Still, just the fact that its almost completely safe and this helpful, makes me wonder how the hell is it still ilegal.

Fear mongering, corporate lobbying, "moral" legislation, police officers profiting from the failed war on drugs

There are studies which suggest that THC could be related to memory loss Source
You're from portugal right? your country is a great example for the rest of the world in drug policy. in 2001, your country decriminalized all drugs, including the hard ones like Heroin, Meth, or Cocaine.
As a result, drug-related deaths and diseases (such as HIV infection from IV drug usage like heroin) decreased dramatically (though it is still above average).

Cops still give us a hard time though.
They nearly kick our asses for having hashish, even if its well within the limit.
Makes sense for the part of the memory loss though. A friend of mine is kind of a air head and a bit slow and mellow, and I'd say its from all the stuff he smokes, like weed and hash.

It's really stupid because in the end, there's a lot of money to be made with weed. I have no idea how the government hasn't jumped on it yet.
Not only that, it could mean there would be less problems with dealing and drug traficking right?

There's more money in bribery

I wouldn't say weed is harmless
Even with all the iffy articles about heavy use potentially causing psychosis only a blind fanboy will deny that it can be an enabler for some which is bad enough
VERY few drugs, even something as simple as acetaminophen (paracetamol), are without negative side effects.
I'm guessing THC in the quantities that were present a few decades ago in plants was as close to harmless as possible. Modern plants have had a massive increase in the amount of THC present, which is a little more questionable, but seems to generally be pretty mild in terms of side effects as well. If anything, the fact that it remains generally safe in quantities WAY above levels that are effective is impressive as hell.
Medical Marijuana is actually not much of a thing in Germany. Its exceptionally rare for patients to get a permit, and this is exactly what this documentary is about in the first place. The guy is having one hell of a time trying to get it legally, its a very, very rare exception. The documentary is aslo making a point of how he is immune to 'getting high', sort of dissociating the story as far as possible from recreational consumtion. As for me, I'm an insomniac, they just prescribe hardcore sleeping meds. I'd never have a chance to smoke that stuff legally unless I had one foot in the grave.
