This engine is going to be the best thing ever, while completely moddable and open. Best blood I have seen in a game so far.
Oh man, it's painful to watch for some reason. :v:
I'm hoping the blood becomes a transparent surface on a triangle rather than coat a triangle to a bright red surface.
I'm hoping the blood becomes a transparent surface on a triangle rather than coat a triangle to a bright red surface.
It's still the first thing he has implemented on it. It will surely get more polished. He even said he wants to use something else instead of simple triangles, it's just first thing he was able to implement. Remember that they have to keep showing new stuff to get the game done in reasonable time and to keep getting preorders.
There is something pleasing watching anthropomorphic animals bleeding to death
Lugaru was one of the best indie games I've played and the wait for Overgrowth has been a long one. Here's a video from two years ago, where it shows the original state of the blood effect:
Lugaru was fantastic, and had a thriving mod community despite being impossible to develop for. I hope he brings an SDK to the sequel.
Holy shit... Going to try it now!

Would be so satisfying to have bows in this game and a realistic damage/pain simulation.
The more updates this gets the more I'm tempted to preorder to try the alpha.
Would be so satisfying to have bows in this game and a realistic damage/pain simulation.
It has a Euphoria-like damage system now. Bad , it lags on bad processors
Unfortunately there isn't much to do in the alpha, so I'm not too happy that I bought it. Once the game gets farther it will be awesome however.
It has a Euphoria-like damage system now. Bad , it lags on bad processors
This game will lag on any bad processors. Have you tried it? Currently it will fry my gpu after a couple minutes :v: They are still developing this game and optimizing as they go. Latest big optimization they did was for trees and foliage. I seem to remember seeing stuff about this game a few years ago. It doesn't seem to be something like Infinity (meaning it's dead) but the development is way too slow for me to really be interested.
I want this to be a Deathmatch arena action game with axes, spears, rocket launchers, and lightning. So when that mod comes out I'll be all over this shit.
Sorry, I found it.
Don't go running out to nab the pre-order and expect a highly polished and playable editor. It's not. That doesn't mean anything bad about them, however. The amount of effort and detail Wolfire is putting into this game is staggering and I'd almost happily give them another $30.
Oh god this game feels a little to real now that im covering my neck.

So what is Overgwoth about essentially? I mean the engine looks amazing and the full modability is too but I still don't understand why anthropomorphic rabbits are running around punching other anthropomorphic rabbits.
I like how these guys managed to develop more advanced stuff in their own engine than any other game company has done before.
0:09 EXTREEEEEEEEEME NOSEBLEEED I can't wait!

You run around and punch other rabbits or wolves and do crazy jumps.
They're also adding cats, dogs, and rats. And maybe whalemen. I don't really know the plot though since I didn't play Lugaru.

It's a fantasy world with tribal/monarch societies. Lugaru had very simple story, and there were only rabbits and wolves, and much wasn't ever explained. Seems that Overgrowth goes much deeper. There's apparently some little comics in the making which can be partly seen on their page, and there might have been some mentions about what's going on, but there wasn't ever any complex piece which would explain the world.
The music over this video was hilarious considering what was going on. I should go check if they fixed their alpha on GTX460 cards.
I like how these guys managed to develop more advanced stuff in their own engine than any other game company has done before.
Indie developers doing what they like. People are hating on them indies. People just don't understand. The indie scene is the place for cool ideas to flourish. If it wasn't for an indie game, you would not have portal 2 now.
Indie developers usually make a game they want to play instead of what is currently making the most money because they aren't risking millions to make it. Also each developer gets to put more of them self in the game because of how small it is meaning they will be making it with more passion.
AN INDIE DEVELOPER made an awesome bleeding effect? Why the fuck does in some "high budget" games blood still looks like shit?(Call of duty)
