Honestly this shit is creepy and I will never watch it and I hate Netflix for throwing weird sexualized teens in my face whenever I'm browsing.
I watched the first season, it's really not as bad as I thought it would be, but it's far from "good". Most of my criticism lines up with what IHE said but the thing I really hated most about the show was how it would hit you over the head with its "comedy." Blatant and over the top makes for a good gag, but when it's the entire show's shtick it just gets tired and boring as they try to make you laugh at yet another masturbation joke. It's basically some Netflix CEO type saying "Haha, look at how relatable this awkward pubescent teenager is, with all of his problems and masturbation and dicks and stuff! Also periods! That's funny, right?"
damn, I guess this is gonna be the unpopular opinion then but I honestly liked the show a lot and found it pretty funny The writing could have been better, yeah, but overall I found it pretty funny. my only advice to it would have been make it a bit more educational in places [sp] but not by showing the actual.. 12 year old girl character's vagina?? just do it with them pointing to a chart on a board[/sp] idk. It wasn't the best show, no, but I don't think it was bad at all. was like 4/5 stars for me
[sp] but not by showing the actual.. 12 year old girl character's vagina??[/sp]
Uhhhhh isn't that, like, illegal? Or am I horribly mistaken about the laws on [sp]showing animated under-age vaginas[/sp]?
Uhhhhh isn't that, like, illegal? Or am I horribly mistaken about the laws on [sp]showing animated under-age vaginas[/sp]?
[sp] they showed it as a talking cartoony character of the vagina shown on a mirror, never directly attached to the girl or shown as her connected body part just 'this is what she sees at her angle' or some shit. I dunno, and idk the laws of it or if they did some loophole to do it. Definitely felt weird & uncomfortable to watch that part, though. :S[/sp]
as a quick note to clarify all confusion on possible displayed animated vaginas: US laws allow for animated/drawn pornography regardless of content, since any laws (regarding child pornography or bestiality, for example) necessarily rely on it depicting real victims-- otherwise, it's not obscene or unprotectable by the First Amendment. "It is specified that "the term 'indistinguishable', used with respect to a depiction, means virtually indistinguishable, in that the depiction is such that an ordinary person viewing the depiction would conclude that the depiction is of an actual minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. This definition does not apply to depictions that are drawings, cartoons, sculptures, or paintings depicting minors or adults." (referring to the PROTECT Act of 2003, which is the current federal law) on a state-by-state level, there are some bans (for example, Utah bans lolicon), but Netflix and the production studios that make Big Mouth (as far as I know, it's hard to get good information on the studios that aren't Titmouse since they are pretty much notable exclusively for this show) are all headquartered in California, which has essentially decided that it doesn't care enough to take a stance
just keep in mind it will violate indecency laws so you can't show that on tv broadcast through the airwaves
right, which is why you won't ever see it on family guy but you will on [insert netflix show here]
Christ almighty that "art style" is fucking ugly.
I got about 3 episodes in and gave up, disgusting and unfunny. The "always trying to be funny" characters are never funny, and about 3/4 of the show is made up of them.
Honestly this shit is creepy and I will never watch it and I hate Netflix for throwing weird sexualized teens in my face whenever I'm browsing.
whenever someone says this ott stuff about the show I can imagine they're uncomfortable with repressed feelings it brings to the surface and they're just trying to cover it up by overcompensating about how awkward the show actually is
whenever someone says this ott stuff about the show I can imagine they're uncomfortable with repressed feelings it brings to the surface and they're just trying to cover it up by overcompensating about how awkward the show actually is
dude just because someone doesnt want to see a teenage girl talk to her animated vagina doesn't make them repressed lmao

Guys, y'all actually need to watch the show for yourself. It's really quite funny and sweet. Stick with it past the first two episodes. It's gross but... that's the point.
The art style alone is a massive turn off. Ah well Netflix, can't hit a homerun every time
I watched the whole thing and does it have it's funny moments? Yes. But most of it is really annoying and weird. 3/10 would not watch Season 2.
Big Mouth Strikes Again
I've been trying to explain this to people since a friend showed me this abomination of a program.
What else did Dr. Freud tell you?
he told me that shitposting is good for the soul
Replace Big Mouth with Big Moist.
Big Mouth Strikes Again
That caught me off guard, I came for a rant not a sick ass jam
I stopped watching at the pillow part.
Not the best show, not the worst. Personally the art style didnt bother me, now that everybody has mentioned about it I can see its flaws though. I honestly liked some moments and almost laughed out loud. I like the Janitor/Gym teacher guy and the hormone monster had its moments even though it had much "haha fuck him, fuck this, dick her pussy" humor. People getting scared of the naked teenagers, why though? The nakedness isn't showed like "look at these genitals, haha you looked at drawn teenager genitals". Its all in the context, though i have to admit the pillow fuck episode was maybe the worst and most off putting in first season. Its okay show, i dont get all the hate but i see why people dont like.
I feel like he overthought some of these points tbh. Like the bit about the kid on the bus randomly being able to see the Hormone Monster; that's kinda the joke, it makes no sense and it's meant to blindside you. If it doesn't make you laugh, then whatever, but it kinda seems like nitpicking, especially considering how subjective comedy is. He does make some fair points about stuff like the pacing and constantly "in your face" tone of the whole thing though. I ended up watching the whole season with a buddy while we were both half in the bag; we got some good laughs out of it and exactly nothing more (and I highly doubt we'd have powered through it had we not been inebriated). I've described it to people as "better than post-renewal Family Guy, worse than American Dad". [editline]24th November 2017[/editline] Also, maybe an unpopular opinion, but I don't really get why people are constantly so squeamish about the subject matter; South Park showed Cartman (age 8) getting milked for his jokes and semen in a Martian mining colony last season, and that's not even mentioning the time a handicapped kid got raped by a shark or when Butters' cum became a popular sports drink. Or when Cartman gave a handjob to Ben Affleck. Or when he sucked several gallons of semen out of a "hose". Or when Kenny climbed up his bus driver's vagina (and subsequently suffocated, only to be squeezed back out). Or when Kyle was the middle part of a human centipede. Preteens going through puberty and talking about their junk kinda seems like small potatoes compared to what shows like South Park and Family Guy have pulled off on network television.
Christ almighty that "art style" is fucking ugly.
They all basically look like Roger from American Dad :v:

What did you expect?" Since Big Mouth is just starting up, people don't know how tame it is, or how raunchy it will be and where it draws the line. Like, we kinda know Matt & Trey's style after 20 years, but people aren't as familiar with the style of the 4 directors and 13 different writers who worked on season 1 of Big Mouth.

A long time ago, there was a hentai that featured a dancing gopher as the main character's dick in order to get around censorship laws. Any time the dick was shown, instead of the usual mosaic, they just made his penis a dancing gopher/squirrel thing. I can't find the pictures of it now but it was an old hentai movie from the early 90's. The real fascinating thing was how they handled penetration. The internal scenes were drawn to look like the gopher was digging a hole in the ground and climbing out of it. I wish I was lying but I swear to god I've seen these exact images.
