This and his video games and depression video, this dude needs to blow up. 2.2K subs is criminal.
The art in this series is incredible. I wish I had more wall space so I could put more posters up
I've always loved the art of metal gear but never knew the face and name behind it. Great video and love this guys presentation style
I love the art for MGS. I would like to have a few nice prints and frame them for at home.
I was surprised that he did art for CoD not long ago

Yoji is fucking god tier
I honestly think Kojima wouldn't have gotten that far with MGS without Yoji.

The art style definitely sold it but I don't think it would have completely stopped the name from being heard.
I actually spent several weeks hunting down the highest-resolution versions of the series artwork that I could find and created a custom minimalist cover set for my series collection. Tons of Google searches, tracking down artbooks and posters to make homemade scans, and begging Konami community reps for assets. Lots of editing, logo recreation, color correction, and layout iterations.
It was worth it:

I still need to get them all printed, though. Been meaning to find a print service that's willing to do it instead of printing them myself with a crappy home printer.
Each "thick" case I'm using houses either every disc version of that game plus extras (such as PS2, PS2 Substance, Xbox, PC, and Document for MGS2) or the smaller original case for the portable ones (PSP, GBC, etc.). I like to think of this as the final, complete catalog of the series to celebrate its 30 years and ending. The ultimate box set that Konami will never give us.

you know, he doesn't just do fancy drawings, he's also the main thinking force behind basically all the designs in MGS
without him, there wouldn't even be a literal metal gear
Little on the nose there sid:

Oh I thought he was talking about the art design of the box art and stuff like that, not the art direction of the games :v:

Well there were two Metal Gear games BEFORE Metal Gear Solid.
And they also had Metal Gears, the TX-55 and the MG-D.

Shinkawa gave the series a distinctive style and was a major contributing factor to how unique the games are for sure but the series didnt start with him in the art seat.

Yeah, just a reminder to everybody that all the character designs in the original games were literally hollywood actor ripoffs before Shinkawa stepped in and gave the series its own style. :v:

shinkawa's art is utterly unmistakable, the character artwork he did in the manual utterly captured me as a kid
unforgettable in every sense of the word.
MGS's art is my straight up favourite. Up at the very top, with nothing else even close. Maybe PS1 era Final Fantasy almost reaching its feet, but never quite doing so.
It's absolutely perfect to me.
