I think Derren is genuine. I don't know why I just believe he is legit.
I've watched them all up to now. I think the best one was where he let the audience decide that guys fate, where they were the actual experiment.
I love how you can always count on Derren Brown to A) amaze you with what he does and B) scare you absolutely shitless
I know I'm going to be a shitload more paranoid for a month or 2 after seeing that dot induced amnesia stuff
Here are the next two shows.

I've always wanted to try hypnosis just to see if it's bull or not. From what I've gathered some people are more susceptible, whether they try to resist hypnosis or not, than others; but the majority of people can resist it with minimal effort.
ahh... Channel 4 blocks it in my country. Good thing I'm in the United Kingdom... where they are based.

He never puts him or anyone else in danger though, the russian roulette gun he messed with had a blank or something in it (still dangerous). He admitted he would never pose a threat to himself after police were concerned over the show.
I can't tell if the stuff he does is geniuine or not, but it is still awesome. Especailly the part in the 2nd experiments with the 3 choices at the start - if he'd got that wrong, he'd be dead. Although they wouldn't let that happen so it makes it seem fake.
I hated the gameshow one. Unbelievably pointless.

To be honest I didn't enjoy the gameshow one as much as I thought I would, but only because it was incredibly obvious what Brown was doing to influence the crowd.
@ The assasin episode: If Stephen really did get shot, I'd fucking get on that stage and shout for a paramedic. A man like him should not be alone out on a stage with hundreds of others gaping at him, bleeding out.

A lot depends on the circumstance. A person who is tired is pretty suggestible. Also, if they have had a bit to drink, it certainly helps. A big factor is that the person is interested in it and is really following your directions. If someone doesn't go along with your directions you don't have a chance. All hypnotism is self hypnotism, the hypnotist doesn't convince you of anything, you convince yourself. I've hypnotized a decent number people, and my results have ranged nothing to something you'd see at a stage show. There are three different kinds of people, those who knowingly play along, those who find it somewhat real but exaggerate, and those who find it completely real.

It was clear that the audience were told something weird would happen and not to panic.
