While Firefight is no doubt going to be fun, I can't help but dislike the trailer. Halo is supposed to be gritty, not some 90's kid's show.
Absolutely disgraceful.
I do not like where Halo has been going, where it's at, or where it's headed.

Gritty? While I agree with you that this is a bit too far, the original trilogy was never gritty. There was always humor in the series, Sgt Johnson and Cortana regularly made jokes or poked fun at the situation to the point where they had Johnson making a different joke for all four difficulty levels in 2. That's not even mentioning the Grunt, Elite and Marine dialogue.
Halo always has been serious, but also lighthearted.
grunts have always been the humorous part of halo. so this trailer is spot on for that.

While correct, the series has always been gritty with a splash of humor. There's a key difference. I mean, especially 2, 3, ODST and Reach emphasised the fact that while undoubtly brave etc. the war with the covenant was most of the time a few inches from becoming a lost cause.
Ontop of that, the books added to this effect, with even more in-depth character development and stories of dead UNSC heroes just giving up everything to buy the rest if Humanity a few more days.
I'm not denying there's been alot of lighthearted moments, but saying that Halo never was gritty is just not true.
Before I go on with my final point, please note that I'm not an all-out 343 hater (they have done a few good things in both 4 & 5, especially the latter) but when I see this trailer with funky music and stuff alongside the plastic spartans it's hard to associate it with the games I grew up with, games I hold very dearly.
Hell, maybe I'm the only to think this...
I've been playing Halo since I got the Original X-Box and I'm fine with this.

halo 1 had a trailer were sgt johnson is straight up selling the game to viewers in a blatant disregard for the fourth wall in a humorous fashion.

Hey, that's your opinion, and it's perfectly reasonable and understandable. 343 has changed a lot about Halo, both for better and for worse. I've got some problems with the trailer myself, but I'm not sure how well a "normal" trailer would do for it, especially since this is really a trailer for a gameplay livestream before the beta launches rather than a proper trailer.

Owning an Nvidia card, I can personally testify to the flamethrower feature.
Does no one remember the goofy gamestop trailers?

Video game trailers aren't allowed to have fun anymore?

halo has -always- had these fun kinds of trailers
it full embraces its machinima roots and does a lot of fun stuff with it, i think it's great
I miss the trailer done by Rooster Teeth.

They have not done a single one for Halo 5. They did a couple for Halo 4.
