Yes, Viacom are hypocrites. These users need to sue Viacom.
I wonder if they'll post this video on their site
wow, what assholes
I'd lol Also, this video is hella long, watched it all, wtf is wrong with viacom, are they retarded?
They're also extremely greedy.
What the fuck?
This guy is really persistent in this, he's awesome.
I wonder if they'll post this video on their site
I'm posting it now :v: Done: http://www.spike.com/video/jeepers-rant/3382626 Done processing
This guy annoys the shit out of me, though I find some of his reviews funny.
god damn, this guy did some research!
I'm fairly sure youtube videos are under open copyright which means they don't need to pay royalties
I'm fairly sure youtube videos are under open copyright which means they don't need to pay royalties
I don't think it'll work that way when they're not credited and only used for ad revenue. I'm no expert though.
I have one problem with this, people put these videos on youtube to be seen and then he's complaining that they post these videos on their site with different tags. How is this any different than over 90% of youtube videos? Almost all the videos on youtube are just other people posting the same video. Look at things like Numa Numa, Chocolate Rain, or All Your Base. If you search things like those on youtube, how many of the results are just the original video posted by other people? On top of that why doesn't he touch on websites like Ebaum's World or the TV show Tosh.0, both of which do the same thing he's complaining about. This guy is just a massive attention whore. The only thing he ever does with his videos is try to cause controversy. Look at his series of video where he told everyone to not participate in Halloween because of a melamine contamination that never actually happened (Which I've found he has since made private, likely to avoid embarrassment). Also fuck this guys annotations, they are annoying and don't add shit to the video.(I do realize you can turn them off.) /rant

I love how you say he wants attention. You just see 1 second and then your like OH SCREW THIS GUY HE WANTS ATTENTION. without him i maybe wouldnt have known that maybe my vid is on viacoms website Spike and with ads and i dont get money.

TONS OF IT. People on YouTube don't receive money if they re upload the video. Also, the embedded player modifying which is against the YouTube code of conduct (Or some Terms of Use agreement). Along with the massive amounts of money they make, the real problem is that they have been bitching about copyrights for YEARS now, and they've been doing it the whole time.
I love this guy, his toy reviews are awesome and he knows what he is talking about. fuck Viacom.
Hey, I moderate Gametrailers! I do agree with him that Viacom are a bunch of greedy fucks.
It's more the fact that GameTrailers TV is on Spike that he says not to go there

Why the fuck should you care if you don't make money from them putting it on their site when you don't make any money off of it in the first place? On top of that, my main point was more that this sort of thing has been happening on the internet for fucking ages now. The people who run Ebaumsworld taking your video and not paying you for the ads they slap around it is no different than Viacom doing it.

Also they're hypocritical dicks for persuing others for what they've done themselves, and things on ebaumsworld aren't blatantly stolen just for ad revenue. About your first point, if you're not making money off of it, why should some random corporation who stole your image and work? If I made a feature length movie and gave it out for free to people, I'd be pretty pissed to find out other people selling it for cash money.

Also, why should Viacom be sued just because you can make money off of it? Using that logic I might as well sue Google as well.

I can't seem to find any of my video's on there webiste

Also, why should Viacom be sued just because you can make money off of it? Using that logic I might as well sue Google as well.
1.) If you upload something you made to Youtube, you are giving them permission to use it. Read the TOS. Sure, many things on there are not uploaded by the creators, but, since Google a) legally tells you not to and b) actively takes down infringing content, they can claim the safe harbour exception (the same one that keeps an ISP from being sued for not filtering warez, or let's garrysmod.com stay up while people upload warez). Viacom is a) actively telling you to upload things that aren't yours, b) deliberately leeching Youtube's bandwidth, c) approving all videos as non-infringing even when obviously it is, and d) violating the Youtube TOS. As such, they can be held responsible. 2.) In some cases, they (Youtube) do in fact split ad revenue. Not sure what their criterion is, but it can happen. 3.) Look at the attitudes of the companies. Google is passive, filtering only what they have to, and often standing up for its users. Viacom is suing them without even knowing what videos they put on Youtube themselves and which they did not, and are actively seeking out videos on Youtube to steal. Which sounds like the good guy here?
Because by uploading it to youtube you gave them permission to use it. You didn't give Viacom your permission.
This comes back to my point about websites like ebaumsworld reuploading your video. If they take your video and put it on their site without asking your permission why is it any different than if Viacom does it?
This comes back to my point about websites like ebaumsworld reuploading your video. Jman if you were google and was sued for copyright. YET that company contains copyright material even from NBC wouldnt you be pissed?
I'd like to see Viacom's response to his videos. Mr. Mozart wins again. And who the fuck thought of the name "Viacom"? It even sounds evil.
fuck viacom
It's because Viacom has sued Google in the past for copyright infringement, when Viacom in fact is doing the exact thing
I haven't read about any suits by Viacom against Google over youtube copyrights (but I have seen an absolute ton of videos removed on copyright by them). I have however gone to spike.com and read the Terms of Use which includes the following statement.
On notice, we will act expeditiously to remove content on the Site that infringes the copyright rights of others and will disable the access to the Site and its services of anyone who uses them to repeatedly to infringe the intellectual property rights of others.
which would suggest to me all it would take to get your copyrighted material removed is an email, and if they don't remove it after that you would have legitimate legal ground for a suit. EDIT: And now I have read about Viacom suing which does seem unjustified but my previous point still stands.
Hey Jman, Youtube literally just sent me an email today saying that I can actually make some money if I allow them to place ads next to my video. Not even kidding. Uberslug had the same thing happen to him as well a year or so ago.
