They left the dog out in the snow for like 10 fucking hours. The dog was freezing cold. Animal services refused to come due to the weather. In my opinion the dog shouldn't be returned. It looks happy where it is, would post picture but can't find it on Reddit now (OP's have been heavily edited since this whole thing came about)
Also the owners are fucking shit at acting.
Dog happy:

the link for what really happened
"Most spoiled dog on the planet."
Yeah ok. That's why it's outside in freezing cold weather.

Disregard this I read into it a bit more
Christ, that interview with the couple really gives me the vibe of a slightly spoiled 10 year old that wants a dog and then gives it a pound of chocolate because they want to give the dog a really nice treat
uninformed animal owners are the fucking worst
"Her kennel is out there and everything"
you mean that tiny little pet carry case, a tiny mattress and a fucking colonnade of dreary paint? The most spoiled dog in the world my ass, this poor thing is probably better off with the guy from reddit. Sadly, it is stealing so he is doing wrong in the eyes of the law. But in my eyes he is a pretty cool dude
Should charge the owners with animal cruelty.
Seriously, "my dog is made to live in Switzerland," why the fuck would you have that dog in texas, and if it was actually warm beforehand, then do you fucking think that a dog who's shed all his hair for the warm weather is fit to live in 20º weather?
Fuck, it's one thing to have a guy who just beats his dog, because then you can just hate them, but people who think "oh yeah! we'll give the dog its own place to run around in this padlocked windy 10x5 hallway! And we'll give it a little tempurpedic mattress to keep it warm!" and then forget to feed and water it. I mean, fucking seriously, I didn't see a heated water dish anywhere, so they think that the dog will just chew on the ice of what they do remember to give it?
I don't see a dog like that survive in freezing tempratures. Sure it might be a swiss breed, but that doesn't mean you can dump it outside in freezing tempratures for a few hours per day.

I guess we had the same idea greenen
"But she's a Swiss Mountain Dog, she's bred for that!"
That's like telling a kid to sit outside for a few hours in the cold just because you give them a campfire and a bundle of clothes.

My dog is bred for herding sheep in the high hills in all weathers, but I keep him in the house because he is more to me than just a dog.
It annoys me when people leave dogs out because 'oh it's bred for it'
Dogs are not supposed to be locked up in closets.

more like adopting an inuit kid and just dumping them out in the snow

Believe it or not you can't just walk onto someones property and steal their shit on the basis of "cruelty".
If your dog/cat was stolen from you wouldn't you be pretty pissed? Especially if that same person was going online and accusing you of neglect.
It blows my mind that you guys are completely fine with zero evidence of neglect actually being given by the thief. Infact the picture he posted points to the fact that the dog wasn't neglected. Any dog will eat 3 cans of dog food if you put it infront of their face.

Are you joking? Dogs have fur coats.

You are clearly an expert on dogs.

Go sit outside in a snowsuit when it's freezing cold out for 8 hours. Go ahead.

I never said I was an expert on dogs. I do own a dog and I keep mine inside, but that doesn't mean some dogs can't stay outside. It doesn't take much to google a certain breed of dog and read up on the best conditions for that breed.

It's common fucking knowledge that a 10-month-old dog with a thin fucking fur coat can't stay outside in the cold for longer than 6 hours.

Houses aren't natural formations found in the wild. Your dog will be fine if it has shelter from rain and a warm place to sleep.
Redditor is morally in the right, but could have used a more legal option IMHO

Not when he's in the freezing fucking cold for 6 hours holy shit will you stop being so stupid
I'm actually wondering if you're neglecting your own dog right now jesus christ

Have fun in below freezing temperatures in an uninsulated shelter with freezing snow outside. You would freeze during the night and probably die, dog or human.
You're taking some extremely risky actions by kidnapping the dog, especially if you live even remotely nearby, whether or not it was abused. You should call the police and inform them of the situation and let them deal with it. If for some reason that doesn't work then at least you'd be able to say that you tried that when you break in and steal it.

It's not "freezing fucking cold" the dog is in Texas. It's 30-40 degrees in the middle of the night.
[editline]12th December 2013[/editline]
Holy shit where are you guys getting the idea that it's below freezing? These people aren't living in Alaska. It blows my mind that you can sympathize with someone stealing another persons pet like that.

1) I didn't say it was below freezing
2) Go outside in 20 degree weather for 5+ hours with a thin t-shirt on and shorts, and then get back to me.

You realize there have been massive fucking snow storms accross the US recently correct?
Not saying what he did was the right way to do it, but those people should not have a live animal because they obviously know nothing about caring for animals.
Especially the "it's a swiss dog so it can survive in the coldhuehuehue" No it fucking can't, it was like 80 degrees the weeks before this ice storm apparently, giving it no chance to switch to thicker winter fur.
[QUOTE=Death_God;43164512]He did.

He claims he called the police and animal control. There is no evidence that says he did.
A t-shirt and shorts don't compare to a coat of fur. Dogs don't have the same anatomy as humans.
