The Dark ones are among us.
IT'S SCIENCE!
that ain't right.
"That is not cool"
falsest statement of the year, that was awesome
it's obviously a balloon filled with swamp gas
I'm guessing that was bound to the powerlines, and not free-floating like ball lightning?
I didn't know poltergeists had escaped the confines of the Zone
Nah but really, what was it?
That was fucking rad. Although saying that if I was there I would probably be freaking out a little.
Some people cahl them deemuns
I cahl them beeches

An electrical fire. Just search for that on YouTube and you'll find tons of cool shit like this.

thumb tags mr mayor
According to my highschool-diploma thing, I am roughly 60% electrician, but I have no idea how that works. Could someone explain?

Include an example with mathematical equations for bonus points.
wicked phenomenon, yes?
That shit looks like someone welding.
I've looked at someone arc welding without a mask before, holy fucking shit, eyes went cloudy for like a minute.

Looks like the still connected power lines made for a good passage.

i also heard tales of seenging paipes
dont move
*whispers* Artyom, what are you doing.
I'm not sure if this is the same as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_lightning because it's following the power line
Maybe it's a ball lightning that got stuck to power line? There're a lot of "witness reports" about how they're attracted to stuff with strong electro-magnetic field.
Because I honestly can't think of what else could travel such a long distance.
Fuck your ass cloudflare.

It probably damaged his camera too I would imagine.
This was a high impedance electrical arcing fault. Usually the upstream protective device (ie. fuse, relay/breaker, recloser, etc.) will interrupt these types of faults and prevent them from continuing. They can start because of tree branches or animals or lightning strikes or anything that can bridge two phases or a phase and ground. The air becomes ionized and no longer acts as an insulator but a conductor. This arc is interesting because it was able to be sustained for such a long period of time.
If the fault has a high enough impedance, the current is actually not very high in comparison to regular faults. This makes it very difficult for the protective device to clear the fault since it the current can even be lower than the normal "load" current. The utility should be able to analyze any event reports in the area from the relays to try and determine what happened and if it can be prevented in the future.
Plees gev mi a buhlet sar ahm reely hungrey :(

So its a big really hot spark thats traveling down the wires like a fuse as it burns off the insulation?
Wow. I didn't think power lines could do that in real life. Every time I saw them do that it was in fiction.
That fucking gremlin...
