What about us people who don't need to wear glasses :(
What about us people who don't need to wear glasses :(
I think it's the other way around.
You'd look a right knob walking about talking to yourself like that.
Wow, I know this is just a concept, but... Jeez, this is insane. One day, kids might not be asking 'Why can the man in the video game see things in his head?' but 'Why does the man in the game have such a primitive heads-up display?'
You'd look a right knob walking about talking to yourself like that.
But in a future where everyone is wearing one of these, would you?
This technology won't be worthwhile for a while, I bet. They will try selling them for a few years, and the reception will be lukewarm. A few years after the hype dies down... iGlasses Suddenly they are everywhere.
I've always dreamed about having a HUD.
Oh god you'd look like a total tool wearing these
I am excite
Okay who sleeps on the couch in a sitting position with all of their clothes on
I always wondered what would be first, a wearable heads-up-display or an implemented one. The biggest potential issue I see with this technology is the voice recognition which to this date is still kinda unreliable, and last time I checked pupil recognition was bulky tech when mounted, too. Not to mention power. Nothing CNTs couldn't fix of course, but I think in the long, long term thought-controlled technology will overtake it. But hey, who knows, maybe they'll use the frames to measure electric currents or some magic. Regardless, good to see Google is pushing the technology and thinks of the futuristic innovations like that. I wish more companies would share their thinking.
I can already do all of the above with my iphone, except the iphone is socially acceptable and I don't have to strap it to my head.
Oh god you'd look like a total tool wearing these [t]https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-A6pD_FWmYxg/T3xUSvVz8LI/AAAAAAAAABk/qdfLOQRlrXE/s816/glass_photos3.jpg[/t]
Those alone, maybe, but I think it wouldn't look half as bad as a clip-on attachment for existing pairs of glasses, where possible. Then again, I already look like an idiot day-to-day, so I don't really care :v: I'd wear that if it provided something similar to the video.
Obligatory: My vision is augmented. Seriously: Who's going to wear these? Isn't it going to cause eye strain focusing on that screen, or does that project an overlay over your glasses? Shit like this needs to be discreet. Plus, you can't walk around using it, I mean say you're browsing FP on it, you can't just say "open furry porn megathread" in front of everyone around you.
Oh god you'd look like a total tool wearing these
I'm confused. How can a tiny little cuboid of glass create a HUD over your entire view?
Hope there's a way I can wear those with my normal glasses..
It's actually a well thought out concept since they added the sequences like "Bob is sharing his location". Concepts rarely include realistic security approaches like this.
ooo look at me i'm playing a ukulele on a building what a bellend
Also I just don't think this fits a deviant lifestyle. I couldn't have people popping up on my glasses when I'm sitting there trying to watch vintage pornography. If I'm watching Mondo Topless and someone calls me on my glasses and I have to then speak and tell my glasses to get rid of the video real quick, I just won't feel good about that.
ooo look at me i'm playing a ukulele on a building what a bellend
I thought he was gonna jump off.
This would come in handy. Have it open a document to present a speech. OR Stare down a chick's shirt and cough so it takes a picture.
I thought he was gonna jump off.
Yeah that would have made the video for me. "Project Glass; if you want this or plan to buy anything like it, kill yourself."
It's a pretty cool idea, but I think I'd rather stick to getting info on my smartphone when I want to. I don't really feel like walking over the street and getting info popups all the time.
just listen to yourself man, you sound like my grandpa talking about smartphones
Well I'm fooling around. I think it's funny that there's nothing this does that can't be done on a smartphone.
i dont thinks it is good if you are walking on the street or driving/riding a car or bike
Cool concept. The first ones will probably tied to your smartphone as a processing unit. Chances are it will be more Dead Space like and the HUD projected into the scene you are seeing. I already saw working glasses connected to a powerful PC via wifi. [editline]4th April 2012[/editline]
i dont thinks it is good if you are walking on the street or driving/riding a car or bike
People check their phones while driving all the time, I d rather have them do it in a hud.
Reminded me of this
Cool concept. The first ones will probably tied to your smartphone as a processing unit. I already saw working glasses connected to a powerful PC via wifi.
Well it'd have to be external to be useful for certain things. I use my phone for a lot of personal stuff, but a lot of its functions would be useless if I couldn't physically show it to other people. And not screen sharing, I mean, like where you take your phone out and say hey dude look at this shit, when you have a real person in the room with you. So if anything, they're better off doing it on a projection or a handheld device, I don't see people adopting headgear. The video is amusing to me because the guy wearing them in the video is a douche and so is his friend, and nobody in the video has the glasses except the guy wearing them so as far as anyone else knows, he's walking around talking to himself, asking dumb ass rhetorical questions out loud. I think the product would be neat, but there are certain disadvantages.
This and the self-driving car. I welcome our new Google overlords with open arms. As long as they make it look less retarded.
