I know I was bitching before about how his videos have become little more than fan worship but holy fuck are the editing and production in this video beautiful
Spot fucking on. Ocean along with stuff like RTJ and Death Grips gives me hope that someday Hip Hop will return to actual relevancy and not just the hollow vapid top 40 cariacature it's become over the last decade and change.

That was an incredible video, Frank Ocean is a wonderful person and amazingly talented artist.
Yeah Frank could have some shit considered R&B and some rap moments but when it comes to death grips and him they're usually grouped in with hip hop fans because they're is an overlap in fanbases
Frank has some rap features and is heavily associated with rap cause of OF and what not. Death Grips, if I absolutely had to confine their music to a genre, would be experimental/industrial hip hop. But again, they basically defy categorization. [editline]26th January 2017[/editline]
You'd also be wrong.
About what? If you think hip hop is 'dying', then you're simply looking in the wrong places. I would argue there have been more classic albums released in the past decade than in the 80s or 90s.
I've actually not heard anything by Frank Ocean, but i'll take it from the posts here that he's worth a look.

This was a really nice video. On the topic of Frank's music being minimalist and introspective I don't think it gets much more so than it does here: This is still one of my favorite songs of his and looking back now it's pretty similar stylistically to the atmosphere on Blonde. I think, in a way, it's the epitome of what he was talking about in the video. There's songs like this in across all of his work. Good Guy off Blonde is another good example. I'd say Bad Religion off Channel Orange fits as well. We All Try is another favorite of mine (it was also the instrumental he used in the video for anyone wondering) which again is very atmospherically similar. White (the version off the OF Tape) and Rushes To (from Endless) are also in the same area. At this point tho I'm just listing favorite songs. If you watched the video and liked what he was talking about, there's plenty of that across his whole discography. He touched on the references and stuff a lot more in the video I think but there's not a lot more for me to say on that. Frank is unequivocally my favorite artist of all time. Channel Orange is my favorite album of all time. It hasn't been long enough for me to be comfortable putting Blonde or Endless on the 'all-time' lists quite yet but I'm comfortable saying I love them both just as much as everything else of his. He's definitely worth the listen.
