Well, you gotta know Russian to go to ISS(Probably because alot of things are russians like the Sovjez escape thing).
But he is the best commander of the ISS so far(and he has a good charisma so good PR for the ISS/nasa).

You have to speak both fluent english and russian to become a commander on the ISS(Actually to get on it at all if I remember right)
