Other than the humor to be had and the sick fascination of seeing how disgusting a place can be; I enjoy watching this show (both US and UK) because it's not just "I'm Gordon Ramsey, my word is law", but you can see he has such a passion for the field, that he isn't trying to assimilate these businesses, but help them find their identity and invigorate other's passion for the field where they may have lost it or haven't fully realized it.
You can tell the difference between UK and US Gordon Ramsay here, because he's actually helping the people.

Anyone know the episode at around 6:30? I like the off episodes they do where it's a genuinely nice guy who just needs some direction.
The buying the food at the supermarket was incredible. So during the time she's at the shop the chef is just chillin doing nothing at the restaurant? It's kind of crazy to me how people can go "yeah im going to own/open a restaurant" and have no fucking clue what they are doing.

It's actually a really sad episode. Lenin (the chef he's helping in this video) collapses and needs to go to the hospital in the episode. Gorden helped him get into rehab as well after the episode was shot.
I love how compassionate Gorden is in KN
That was.....really sweet. It didn't feel sensationalized it was legitimate frustations working in a kitchen. In the US version when something is sweet or nice they really frame it with the music and all to tell you HEY GO AW AT THIS, but in this, or at least this episode, most of the clip was just sweet or nice with sprinkled jokes. US verion would make that piggy bank a super central peice too instead of just an added bit of flair like it is here.
You can tell the difference between UK and US Gordon Ramsay here, because he's actually helping the people.
IMO, the show seemed basically the same, content wise, as the US version.
The US version is a tad overdramatized. It also has that god awful sound effect every five seconds
I won't disagree about the sound! It's definitely refreshing to hear it gone.
IMO, the show seemed basically the same, content wise, as the US version.
You should probably re-watch then, there is a pretty big night and day difference. There's way more drama in the US one and the restaurants are usually a lot worse and the owner is usually a twat. The UK one is better because there's less drama and it feels a lot more genuine as a whole. Since Gordon is at home there's also a lot more context in the show because he's familiar with the places and what it should be like. [editline]18th May 2017[/editline] And for the cherry on top, British chef banter is a lot more entertaining
IMO, the show seemed basically the same, content wise, as the US version.
gordon seems way more aggressive in the US version, in the UK version he's still really abrupt but he seems to genuinely help people, there's some times in the UK version where the owners start tearing up/crying and Gordon lays off and a bit and seems like he genuinely wants to help. the US version just seems super formulaic, like YOU WON'T BELIEVE HOW DIRTY THIS KITCHEN IS *VIOLIN SOUND* THIS KITCHEN IS FOOKIN GOBSHITE MATE, fUCK OFF

I agree that the editing plays up the drama a lot more, with the music and sound cues; but the US version does have its moments where he gives legitimate advice without going Hell's Kitchen on someone. Sometimes, he's not even shouting or anything, just speaking sternly and directly. It is hard to determine if some of it is played up for television one way or the other.
Usually when he gets in a fit, it's for a good reason.
To be fair, in the US version the owners are a lot more arrogant and stubborn from what I have seen.
sometimes I think that the US one often intentionally picks restaurants that are beyond saving and/or have super arrogant owners [editline]18th May 2017[/editline] its still entertaining in its own way though, mostly to see how much a trainwreck the places are
If you lot like this kind of thing (seeing Gordon's passion for food and all that) watch his shows like Gordon's Great Escape, The F Word, Gordon Ramsay's Ultimate Christmas (remember watching this over Christmas with the family, great times) and then you've got other awesome shows like River Cottage and Jamie Oliver's shit.
How am I supposed to know if it's bad or not without the sound effect?
In some seasons of the US version it's a part of the soundtrack so you just hear it constantly throughout an episode at seemingly random times.
You can tell the difference between UK and US Gordon Ramsay here, because he's actually helping the people.
From what I've heard the process is actually the same, it's just that they edit it differently.
From what I've heard the process is actually the same, it's just that they edit it differently.
There's a disclaimer in the US one saying that some scenes may have been created for effect or something.
There's a disclaimer in the US one saying that some scenes may have been created for effect or something.
I think that refers to splicing footage to make things seem more dramatic than they actually are, not scripting scenes or anything. Reality shows are notorious for it.
