Despite being released a week ago, I did not find a single thread for it.
A new series, a new server. A low-tech, perma-death server, which is ruled over by the iron fist of the Black Cross. They capture slaves, and force them to bring them the resources to expand further. They have ownership of one of the very few guns on the server, and they make their slaves fight to the death in a cruel arena, for their own amusement. The Hunter will not get on with these chaps.
Episode 2 is up!
Our Hunter wants to free his fellow slaves, to lead them against the nefarious Black Cross clan, but he knows that he isn't quite ready for it. So he must first gather his resources, learn the lay of the land, and their habits. And most importantly, he must keep in mind that a single mistake could spell the end of his time opposing the Black Cross.
The whole concept of "primitive" Rust is something which needs to made into a vanilla setting for server owners. Maybe even make it so a few official servers run it.
did anyone find out if this is legit or not? Very curious, I enjoy these.

I'm pretty sure a lot of it is scripted but the combat seems very convincing. The fact that he does get hit here or there makes it seem real. Of course that insane spear throw had to have been practiced, I can't imagine he would land that on the first try or that the recipient would stand there waiting for it to blast him.
I would assume it's staged with friends or volunteers. Combat is probably hard to script in Rust beyond major things happening, i.e. stand in the corner so I can escape here, so it's probably just along the lines of "we fight here until".
Not gonna make a new thread for this:

I wish stuff like this was actually possible in Rust, unscripted and pure.
It continues:

Just finished watching it. Quite suspenseful, if not played up a bit too much.
He really is a good narrator.
I'm not going to let this thread go until the whole season is finished. Episode 6!

Cross Clan are a bunch of assholes
They probably weren't given attention as children by their parents
I haven't been this invested in a scripted series like this since SoI. Cannot wait for the next episode!
[sp]I think that the lights the Hunter saw were the Rangers, not Crossclan.[/sp]

He's also just insanely good with a spear though. His live recorded videos always have similar throws, though obviously not quite as crazy as the ones in his scripted videos.
Despite this being scripted, it's interesting to think of how a server like this would play out in Rust. No verbal communication, low-tech, permadeath... Would it actually turn into tribal warfare like this? Would a group like Cross Clan come to be? I feel like it's not quite realistic though; you'd think predatory players like that would just stab each other in the back if given the chance.

Huge 10-20 man fuck-you clans are in pretty much every popular server, basically like parasites that migrate from server to server sucking the fun out of everything. Although for the sake of the series Cross Clan seems to have an unending supply of members.
"The hunter will never find him in the maze of rocks" he says as he stares at three small rock formations.
Also jeez, every other episode Albion just burns the fuck down. If the castle just gets dicked while the Hunter is away then I'd be wondering, as one of his helpers for the series, "why the fuck did we even build it"
I cannot be the only person who is suspecting that the recent slave they freed has to be a mole from Cross Clan. It's the only thing which makes sense in my mind.
I would love to see a community server like this, but perhaps not perma death, perhaps death for 24 hours.
Oh boy... The name of this episode.

[sp]My guess is that the Hermit was actually the 'Judas' of the group, while Wolf was just trying to stop him. How else would he get past Crossclan without dying? He was a spy for them.[/sp]

[sp]It was wolf[/sp]
[sp]I've always had a bad feeling about Wolf ever since he threw that spear at the newb on the beach a while ago, who ironically we just saw. I'm not surprised he became a traitor.[/sp]
I still can't figure out if it's real or purely scripted
I want to believe it's just random clips of gameplay on one server, and it's been spliced together and narrated to form a story, with details like perma-death being bullshit just to add tension
Yeah it became really apparent it was scripted after seeing how fucking ridiculous this guy is with a spear. Still, really good
can't wait for the bloody war against the Rust Subforum clan

It's pretty obvious that it's scripted, you can see in season one when the enemy clan uses voice chat they're pretty bad actors.
Also in the first episode in this thread when he's searching the body in the warehouse you can CLEARLY hear footsteps. Any other time that happens the narrator notes it and the Hunter knows to certainly stop searching a body and prepare himself
But he takes his sweet time and the narrator never says a thing
